So how free roam is it? Maybe in comparison to Oblivion, Morrowind, and other Elder Scrolls games.

pretty sure my roommate already has a sniper rifle at this point. he's level 10. i knew about the power armor deal too. like you said it's all about how you play your character. how long did it take you to beat the game? as for the oblivion comparison it's similar but it's a smaller scope. the game was never meant to be as vast as one of the elder scrolls. it's also a good way to encourage people to replay it and try out different paths through the main narrative. ***potential spoiler warning for uptight readers*** speaking of replaying the game i don't think talking about megaton is a huge spoiler (considering most previews mentioned the decision the player would have to make about the nuke and it's your first post-vault objective). but... how did you guys handle it? i talked to the key players then decided to rat out burke once he decided against giving me more money. so i followed the sheriff to see some up close and personal 'wasteland justice' first hand and burke ended up shooting him in the back. i have to assume he got a critical because the sheriff went down and i had to finish off burke on my own. the plus side is i got a nifty assault rifle out of the deal and some cool outfits. the down side is i don't get a house. i thought i could just take over the dead sheriff's place but his child still lives there (he's also the only one in town who seems to have noticed the sheriff's death). |

Thats good, just like Morrowind, which was MUCH better than Oblivion.

You can beat the game in less then 10 hours if you only focus on the main quest. But its like 4 times that if you explore and do sidequests. |

I have been all over the south and south east side of the map. Tried to do just about every sidequest that comes my way, but they always continue in chains to random places so it kinda adds up. I am level 8 right now and have stayed mostly away from the main focus of the game, only heading in the direction while taking all the time to look around. I think this game is a DESERVING 9/10 (unlike gamespot 9/10 which is every other game). It is not as fresh, interesting, or as dark as the original 2 games, but it has kept me coming back for more. You can tell by the mechanics of the game that it has a lot of replayability because so many of the sidequest are not only optional, but also depend upon / effect eachother. I really like how the incorporated VATS and FPS; sometimes when ammo and difficulty are of no concern its fun to FPS, then switch into VATS for the daft moments. Good game, recommend buying.

Ya it is DEFINETLY a Bethesda game, and it bleeds Bethesda (not that it is a bad thing...). I feel like they did a great job of making you feel emersed in the world, although they could have added a little more color for my personal taste. The improvement of leveling up and non scaling enemies is the real improvement over the gameplay of previous games they have made. So unlike in Morrowind/Oblivion, only doing the mainquest will lead you to very difficult enemies but if you know what your doing youd probably still be ok.
