If you haven't yet seen it, I would (yet again) suggest The Changeling, a horror mystery from 1980 starring George C. Scott. It's known for being both intelligent and creepy ..

And Guillermo Del Toro lists it in his top 5 ghost movies. I would too as it's an old favourite of mine.
