Yeh it was, I played though it once and thought it was ok, but I dont think I'll ever play it again, and for some reason I got the evil ending. =\

i played through the first 2 levels and that was enough for me. it looked really nice, and a relatively fresh dressing up your magic powers. but it just felt like a shooter trying to be artsy.
i'm really hoping dead space lives up to its hype |

I'd also like to say that America needs to stop making Silent Hill games.

And boo boo, bioshock is on ps3, and dead rising is coming to wii. Exclusives are becoming a thing of the past :-/ |

guess it depends on where you look. it wasn't hyped like 'spore' or 'fallout 3' but i've been reading about dead space and its creepiness for at least a few months.
exclusives only last as long as it takes the ports to pass QA |

never played system shock. Have played maybe an hour of bioshock. The rumour i read was that dead space was originally intended to be the sequal to system shock, but scrapped infavor of something more mainstream-zombie killing. The story is perfect for me, i love aliens and zombies and conspiracy theory's. The graphics are wonderful, and the sound is probably the best of any game ive ever heard. I love hearing the whispers of **** from the past. It depends on the difficulty, as to your survival or slaughter question. On easy you can just shoot everything, but on hard you definitly have to use the environment and running away like a pansy a lot more,i dont think challenge will be an issue. Did you like resident evil 4's controls? Cuz if not, don't even bother with dead space. Me, i heard RE4 in space, and i was sold, but some might want a little more. Downloaded the Dead Space animated movie pr equel, going to give it a spin. Fallout 3 still hasn't convinced me, it looks like a mediocre fps, in a really gray sandbox with enemies that look straight outta TMNT |

hmm sounds like i'll be waiting for a demo before making a call on dead space. i was never a big fan of the controls in the RE games. then again when it comes to first person games i prefer playing on my pc (i'm old school that way)
from the sound of things i'm getting the impression that it's a slaughter game. sure the difficulty will change your methods of slaughter but like you say 'mainstream-zombie killing'. |

RE4 controls, not Resident Evil 1 controls, waaaay different. Its not triple AAA, but its cool that someone like EA is backing a original ip, and focusing on making good games. Mirrors Edge-anyone interested? |

Dead Rising is ridiculously fun. It is by far the best zombie game ever made. It doesn't have much variety though. It wasn't worth buying full price, but it a definite rent, and worth buying if you can get it for cheap.
