If you say so

It's one thing to acknowledge that a certain country is impoverished, but how do stereotypes come into it unless you're making a xenophobic statement? Albanians as a people are inherently backward? Haha...funny shit...

It was implied...
Hey, while we're on the subject of backward nations, have you heard about that shit down in Mianmar? Cracked me up... |
Where was it implied?
I just thought it was funny one cat could knock out an entire city's power for 3 days. The thread title was based on already conceived notions , not my personal opinion. |
It was implied in the thread's title. You could have merely reported the news without using that title and the connotations would have been entirely different. It would have been a bizarre incident and nothing more. But instead you suggested that the incident has everything to do with Albanians as a nation. The thread was obviously meant to mock Albania and Albanians. Had the same thing happened in some western (maybe your own) city you wouldn't have called upon stereotypes and you wouldn't have been labeled a xenophobe. :|

The English take the pish out of everyone and everything, it's part of our culture believe it or not but if people think that we are a bunch of xenophobes then you should visit here. it is one of the most racially diverse nations on the planet and in parts of london there are over 60 different languages spoken in a 2 mile radius.
Many people rip the pish out of the English-tea drinking, pompous, bad teeth etc. We are not remotely bothered because we have thick skins. You will find that most English (including myself) get on with anyone and indeed a very good friend of mine is Slovakian and I am on good speaking terms with a Hungarian and a Pole (they do all happen to be female!) So lighten up. You do not seriously think that we would post genuine racial slurs do you? It's called humour. Now where's that cat.... |
And had this happened somewhere in Africa the title wouldn't have been racist?
Also, I'm glad people who have had every opportunity in the world find it amusing to mock others' misfortune...it doesn't come off as obnoxious at all... I wonder if your east-European comrades would appreciate something like this being said about their respective nations... Just thought I'd put my two cents in so you don't think everyone chuckled. |
I think that's what should have happened in the last episode of Tom & Jerry...
