Ok that wasn't a bad twist. Bit of a nod to the classics really.

Saw the last few episodes, and I would say they're thoroughly entertaining, but entirely unfufilling.

I think they really classed up things by composing some new music, and treating the camerawork with more detail. The last few episodes almost feel like a mini-movie. Breaching on dramatic areas that seemed to have been forgotten from seasons 2-5. It's nice to see a lot of the feel of the first season return in these past couple of episodes. Plus, they're 95% Dexter, and 5% boring psuedo-"procedural cop drama"/soap opera stuff that's been infecting this season badly.

Yet, I somehow feel it doesn't disguise the fact the plot itself is still kind of hollow. I mean, almost everyone called the twist episodes back. I predict there will be a huge conclusion to this season, but not enough to save it, in my books.

Still though, I've been reading that this may be the last season of Dexter. Maybe this is all for the best. I only wish, though, they could have ended it with Season Four as the cliffhanger would have been a fantastic way for the show to bow out.

According to Wikipedia they have signed for another two seasons.

I didn't mind the whole Lumen story arc of season 5.

Tons of people did, I just thought it was natural writing. Season 5 wasn't bad, I think it was just a natural step after season 4.

6 has made no sense to me. It's like, there hasn't been a single thing they've done logical. Albeit, last couple episodes were nice mindless entertainment.

If it does go on two more seasons, they've got to pull their **** together.

Doesn't compare to The Wire.

The Wire was brilliant. Plus, the Wire knew what it was good at, and kept the focus on it.

Yeah it's a bit like they had the brain storm and came up with a few ideas but they never went from there to actually developing the story lines into something more than the basic story board.

Wow, what a finale, eh?

Spoiler for "***EPIC SPOILER ALERT***:

Ol' Dexter finally getting caught by his cop sister.

Also, am I the only one who finds it weird that this sexual tension building between Deb and Dex is developing now? Seems odd, especially since Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were recently divorced in real life... Ironic script-writing maybe? Who knows, can't wait to see what Season 7 has in store, the writers have a lot to answer for after that...

edit: Spoiler tags, solved.

Spoiler for yes, these are spoilers:
I found it just a very odd choice in general(Debra's crush on Dexter). They hinted at it in the first two episodes, but seemed to have dropped it. (I think in the first scene they're talking and there's somebody in the background holding a donut with a banana through it).

I think the point was that that Debra arrived thinking she had a secret to unload while discovering Dexter's ultimate secret. To me, it's just excessive because... where can you go with it? They're going to play it deadpan as to not ruin the characters, which I imagine just ending in a train wreck.

However, if they begin the next season at the EXACT moment of the discovery. Play down Debra's crush, and whatnot. They can lead to sort of a tense allyship that ends in a manhunt of Dexter that could wrap up the series over the next few seasons. Or something, cause they've DEFINITELY gotta find a way to wrap this thing up.
