Iam half way through Season 3 now and this programme is the absolute bollocks. I also love the fact that each season has a different band/artist interpreting the song 'Down In The Hole':
1. Blind Boys Of Alabama 2. Tom Waits 3. Neville Brothers 4. DoMaJe 5. Steve Earle No 5 is probably the most mundane but the other four are bloody great.

Dexter doesn't even have a patch on The Wire.
The Wire is easily the best TV show ever created, and I really don't say that lightly. It outperforms absolutely everything anyone has ever done. The only show that comes close in terms of how well written it is, is Deadwood. Probably what puts The Wire above everything else is it's amazing socio-political commentary. The whole 'Hamsterdam' arc was just amazing TV, unmatched by anything else I've ever seen..and believe me, I watch a lot of TV.

Besides a going downhill slightly in the second season, i think the Wire is almost perfect. |

It never went downhill during the second season, what is everyone's problem with the second season? It's perfectly fine, not weak and yet not particularly outstanding. It was a decent season, I personally loved the workers arc.

I've been told to watch this show so many times yet I haven't gotten round to it yet. I'm sure I will at some point, i'm expecting big things.
24 is getting a bit of a bashing in here but I still love it. I understand why people started to trail off with it and it was never quite the same after season 3 admittedly but it's still worthy of a watch. |

So I started watching this show last week and now I'm on the last episode of season 1. All I have to say is holy crap! This show is absolutely amazing! All the characters are well acted, well scripted, well written, and they all feel important to the story. Even the minor characters who don't get a lot of screen time are given scenes to shine. One character's death was incredibly disturbing and I can't wait to see how they focus on the killer's guilt in the latter seasons.
I've always heard great things about this show but never bothered to look it up, writing it off as yet another cop procedural with little in the sense of realism and nothing but altruistic cops and their crusade against crime. How wrong I was... |
