Which one, the first or second? I kind of want to see them, but I figured they wouldn't be as good as the show.

I've only seen the first, but I thought it was great. Watch it sometime

I really need to see the second though.

Trailer Park Boys is seriously great - I've been watching it for ~5 years now.

some of my faves all time:

mad men

south park
sopranos
breaking bad
six feet under
deadwood
weeds
modern family
eastbound & down
curb your enthusiasm(very inconsistent but it can really slay me)
the wire
seinfeld

don't have much experience with brit TV but i just tried the league of gentlemen and absolutely hated it. i hear top gear is funny but i dunno.
You've seen Arrested Development right? If you want some British stuff, I'd say that Black Books is the essential sitcom but Peep Show is the best one which is currently running... everyone I've ever recommended it to has loved it and if you're craving the 'awkwardness' of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Peep Show will deliver. Ideal is another good modern sitcom.

League of Gents is definitely my fav show, but it's quirky to say the least so I wouldn't blame anyone for not being able to get into it.

Anyway, I've been watching Seinfeld, Bottom and Nightingales lately. I obviously watched bits of Seinfeld when I was a kid, but it's only after watching it en masse that I'm realising just how good it is.

And holy ****, I just found out there are two new eps of Ideal!!!

Are you a reformed South Park hater?

Keep watching, I like quite a few episodes of Family Guy. But it's still a poor man's South Park.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is my most recent favorite comedy. It's just so crass, and the characters are so insensitive and selfish, that it goes to hilariously extreme lengths. I love the running gag where the Gang starts to argue amongst themselves over inane or offensive matters, while a third party they WERE talking to sits there bewildered as they are ignored, and seen as utterly unworthy of receiving the gang's attention, and usually have to yell or scream to pull the focus back on the matter at hand.

Looking at my shelf, these are the only dvd's I've got (I rarely watch any TV shows though and just happened to 'stumble' upon these by pure mistake/coincidence) -

Black Books
Fry & Laurie
Blackadder
League of Gents
Spaced
...
...

(that's about it I'm afraid )

of course, bearing in mind, If it wasn't for those once in a blue-moon football/cricket games, I'd gladly throw my television right out of the window in a heartbeat! So much for 'TV shows' without a TV (although I suspect this is the case for many in that, they'd rather buy the dvd than follow an ongoing show).
