I've recently watched both series of EARLY DOORS again. I think it's one of very few shows that i could watch over and over again without getting bored. It's such a well written portrayal of the English working class. It's set in a small, struggling local pub and feature's it's regulars. The same people who visit the pub every night and keep it going. The humour is great in my opinion and reminds me of my local before it shut down. Really funny stuff. Whether it's the landlord filling the expensive bottles with cheap supermarket-brand whisky, the miserable, old man who has lived around the corner all of his life and refuses to move from his table and his pint because he "was there before everyone else" or the conversations and usually making fun of the locals in the area that everyone knows but you never see. Craig Cash and Phil Mealey recreated perfectly the relationships you see form in these kind of places everywhere where all these people really have in common is that they drink in the same pub yet still form a tightly knit unit given they spend more time with each other than they do their families. Add the fact that there are some genuinely touching moments, like everyone pitching in what little money they have to pay a phone bill that their friends cant afford to pay and of course the absurd realisation you come to that the reason that they cant afford to pay it is because they are sat in the pub all evening, every evening and you have one of the most charming little British sitcoms i've ever seen. |

^ Great TV series, and sublime music to get along with it.
Though I must say that second season was quite shitty. Like, what happened to Agent Cooper!?
