Liked this a lot more than I was expecting to, but watching biopics of psychopaths in music is always fun. Lots of cameos from the stars of the time too (I.E. The real Jess Conran throwing his younger self out of a club). The bit where he pulls a shotgun on Mitch Mitchell and tells him to play the song properly was fun too. Oh and the guy on the far right of the cover is a young Richie Blackmore.

Yeah I bought that when it came out.
Andy Serkis is amazing in that film.

Letters From Iwo Jima - I don't think there has been a more devastatingly poignant movie about the Japanese side of world war II. It was touching and terribly violent at the same time. Clint Eastwood is a ****ing awesome producer here. 10/10

My family and I got a Bluray player yesterday and we bought a few great starter movies.
Christopher Nolan Boxset This was my choice and has all of his best films, but not his early noir piece Following. The set has Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Memento, Inception, and Insomnia. I really wanted to get Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, but my sister's only eleven and I was going for stuff for the whole family (sort of). The parents got these two, and they're both pretty great as well: Where the Wild Things Are Star Trek (2009)

Saw in the paper that Best Buy is doing a sale on HBO shows and that The Wire is marked down to $18.99 each so $40 altogether for the first two seasons. I thought about buying the whole series for $100, but I don't feel like spending the money at this time, especially when I'm going to have another car repair bill coming in next week. Still, it feels nice to actually own the physical copies for a show that I have a very special place in my heart for, plus it means I don't have to bring my external hard drive with me whenever I want to show it to friends. |

I don't think The Wire was ever distributed in Australia so it'll be hard to get a region 4 to play down here. Shame it seems very promising to watch.

Really? That seems odd, I mean I know the Australian government can be a bit draconian when it comes to violent video games mostly because kids want and do play them, but I can't see a 13 year old sitting down to watch The Wire.
