^Haha, that movie was pretty bad. You know your movie's in trouble when the best actor in it is Ice-T. Also, Dolph Lundgren as the Jesus assassin. Also, obviously, the dolphin.

And lest we forget Henry Rollins. Still I'm a huge William Gibson fanboy so I let a lot of things slide when I first watched it. It occupies the same space as other bad sci-fi films like Event Horizon and Starship Troopers.

I actually like Event Horizon quite a bit, Starship Troopers not so much.

Speaking of B-SciFi movies from the mid-90s, Have you ever seen No Escape with Ray Liotta? I remember thinking that one was pretty entertaining when I saw it.

I haven't actually, but I will definitely put it on my list of things to keep an eye out for.

As for Event Horizon, I was being mildly facetious. It's an alright movie with some good jump out scares and a good performance from Sam Neil. I also liked the influences it took from DooM, but I will say this, I was really expecting someone to get impaled on one of those spikes in the portal room, because why the fuck else would they be there for? As far as Paul W.S. Anderson movies are concerned, it's easily his best.

I'm not saying it's amazing or anything, but if you like somewhat crappy mid-90s sci-fi action flicks you could do a lot worse.

Roger Dodger (2002)

Early Jesse Eisenberg movie about relationships and one night stands. My movie nerd friend recommended this movie to me a few years ago but I never got around to watching it, but when I found it on DVD at a used bookstore I decided to pick it up.

Candyman (1992)

I've always had a soft spot for this film as it was the first horror film that actually gave me a nightmare. Out of all the Clive Barker movies, this is probably his best and I think made the transition from a British setting to an American ghetto quite well. There was some good social commentary and good jump out scares.

Candyman is one of my favorite horror films. Think it was the first film to actually scare me when I saw it. Which was probably when it was released on VHS in probably 1993. I was 12.

today I got:

Yeah, this one is probably the weakest of the series from what I recall (I don't even remember IV), but I got 1 and 2, so gotta get them all eventually.

But the better purchase:

on DVD rather.

Well worth the money paid.

I went to a used bookstore to pick up a supplement book for a roleplaying game series and decided to look around and see what they had for movies. Ended up walking away with these two.

Haven't seen it, but I've heard it's one of the hidden gems of '90's horror and inspired the Saw franchise.

Someone dropped off their zombie collection as I also found the original Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead Part II, and even Beyond Reanimator. I decided to just go with this one.

My collection of cult-ish horror/sci-fi dvd's is starting to look quite admirable.

Can't see the second film but Cube is definitely worth a watch. Great film considering it's budget. The two follow ups are not shabby either.

It's Return of the Living Dead, I'll find a better picture.
