He is a comedian but has appeared in sitcoms that he has written. His subject matter is questionable sometimes I admit and his talk show was terrible but he's very quick witted and hails from my part of the world so his humour is natural to me.

I heard what he actually said he was bored of panel shows and would only do QI. I've not read it myself though.
