I felt like whether he (this is your chance to stop reading because I'm not feeling like spoiler tags) lived or died would have felt like a cop out either way. The combination/fakeout approach subverted that.

Dark and depressing endings are a cliche of their own these days. I'm guessing you know that happy endings that tie things together are cliche too. The ending teases the latter and follows through with the former, and in doing so manages to not be a cliche.

![]() ![]() All Things Must Pass Tels the story of the rise and fall of Tower Records. Fascinating how a company can be the top of its game and then vanish just like that. The way they treat their employees however is how you run a company. Russ Solomon is a legend. This also makes me wish I grew up in the 70s. |

It's so imaginative and beautiful. I love just absorbing every it throws my way. Tokyo Godfathers is another anime by the same director that's very much worth watching, allthough it's far less weird.
