I feel exactly the opposite. That whole extended car chase is badass.

it's just some sort of tribute to the way it was done in the 70s, one long take, not quick cuts like now, more realistic flow

personally, if I wanted 70s-ish car chases, I'd go to the source, such as the original Vanishing Point, which is shot 10,000,000 times better

I don't feel that it was much different from Vanishing Point.

That was the point of the movie imo. they pay tribute to those type of car chase movies from the 70s. I would have never seen Vanishing Point or the original Gone in 60 seconds if it wasn't for Death Proof.

So it was educational to me.

I'm 40 so I was raised on these 70s car movies when I was young

that's y the second half of Death Proof bored the heck outta me, nice ending, though

yeah but come on it opens up a newer/younger generation to what you were used to. I don't see why you would find fault in it but I understand why you felt bored by it. Kind of a been there done that feel.

I'm sure just like how it opened me up to go back and check out those other great car chase films it probably did the same thing to other younger people around my age.

I'd take Planet Terror over Death Proof any day of the week.

I'd take Planet Terror over Death Proof on Wednesdays. Other days of the week I'm not so sure about.

bleak and violent, a solid debut for Takeshi Kitano.
