if you can get past the dialogue it's a pretty good action movie.

Wow, this movie was just nuts. I guess David Lynch's notorious directing proceeds him. I still kind of liked it very out there.

Movie was made in 1922. Frankenstein was written in 1814 (or thereabouts).

I suppose Shelley had heard of the Golem myth/legend?

It's only so similar to Frankenstein because James Whale adopted a few scenes of The Golem for his 1931 "definitive" version of Franky.
