I've been watching a lot of documentraries lately:

It was pretty interesting, and fairly well done. It got a little tired near the end, but still good. 6.5/10

VERY biased(especially the stuff about Canada, I live in a small city, and everyone I know locks their doors), yet fascinating and very entertaining to watch. 9/10

It was pretty good, but I just kept laughing at how nerdy these guys were and how seriously they took the game. I also didn't like the parts where they talked about the 2 main competitor's personaly live, it added nothing to the film. 6/10

Oh man. Ohoho. Off the charts steamy.

Problem was the steaminess was interspersed with weird creepy **** and bloody fingernails and whatnot. So the steaminess wasn't overwhelming.

TRON(1982)

hopefully i'll go and see TRON: Legacy soon, but in the meantime i watched the original for the first time last night. in short, I loved the visual style and the concept of Users and Programs being like Gods and Humans. While some movies from back then that used computer and 3d effects look dated now, this film had a timeless quality that i could watch 20 years from NOW and still love. I also enjoyed seeing a pre-Lebowski Jeff Bridges and thought he was one of the best characters there.

Something that i HATED, though, was the soundtrack. It was this kind of 80s soundtrack where they just threw in any instrument they could get off a synthesizer with no real cohesive value. I got at some points that they tried to emulate an electronic feel and they did ok with that, but then it just piled on other instruments and made it sound like crap. Here's hoping that Daft Punk did a good job on the soundtrack for Legacy.

still, overall the movie is a solid 7/10.

Most of this weekend has been spent watching old black and white horror flicks.

These are the one's I watched, in order from last favorite to most favorite:

The Last Man on Earth (1964)
Starring: Vincent Price
The story was surprisingly close to the book I Am Legend. However, just like other movies that were made after that book, things felt too vague and unexplained. And I didn't like that all of the characters names were the same as in the book, except for the main character.

What is good is that in this movie, the audience is clearly aware that it's vampires roaming the earth. In the movie "I Am Legend" that was not clear at all, and I can't tell you how many people come up to me telling me that it's one of the best zombie movies they've ever seen. No. No it wasn't. Also, while Vincent Price is pretty kick ass...this was not one of his better roles.
3/5 stars.

Metropolis (1927)
Starring: Gustav Fröhlich
The copy I have of this movie is very poor (bought it in one of those "50 movie pack" deals from Best Buy), but the message is unmistakable. Simple, forward-thinking, and just as applicable today is it was 70 years ago. "Between the mind that plans and the hands that build there must be a Mediator, and this must be the heart." Love this film! I'd really like to get my hands on a better quality version though.
4.5/5 stars

The House on Haunted Hill (1959)
Starring: Vincent Price
How could I not have seen this until now? It was brilliant. Vincent Price was perfectly creepy and witty, and the way he and the beautiful Carol Ohmart played off each other was fantastic. The first scene with the two of them had me laughing out loud. Elisha Cook was delightfully morbid as Watson Pritchard. And the first time that the old blind groundskeeper came up behind Nora in that dark room, I almost crapped myself. Perfect!
