No, but it's been on my to watch list for a long time. Like Audition, it's a film I've heard a lot about that I feel like I already know it and that puts me off from watching it, I always end up watching something else. But, I'm catching up with these modern Asian films, so I'll probably see it soon.

Ôdishon aka Audition

I've finally watched this film. Hearing so much about it over the years, it felt like I've already seen it and that kind of put me of from actually watching it. I wish I'd seen it when it came out and not knowing anything about it, the impact would've been much stronger, I'm sure. But, nonetheless, it's a pretty good movie and one that would actually benefit from the second viewing, because it's much more complex than it seems at first. Thinking about it, it doesn't really matter what you know about the film going in, hell, the 'twist' is already revealed in posters and taglines. I was actually trying to find the least revealing picture to post here, but since I couldn't I posted the most striking one. Poor little girl, she just wanted to be loved :(

Ironically watched it the other night myself.

Was good - Not the best of the genre but perfectly good. Well worth the watch if not a little visceral, but thats Miike

I've never seen any Takashi Miike films, I have no idea where to start. Anyone know 3 or 4 of his best films?

This was painful to watch. I guess I'm a masochist

Corrected for you.

I just watched Harry Pothead. It was meh. Like not bad, but not mind blowing either. They missed parts from the book too which always annoys me.

It's like when I watched Angels and Demons, half the characters weren't even presented properly!

Lord of Illusions (1995)

I wouldn't say it was a horrible film... but I also wouldn't say it was a great film, it ride somewhere between mediocre and bad, but I expect nothing less from Clive Barker.

i've kind of been off my Japanese horror kick for a few years....and looking at Takashi Miike's IMDB page it seems he has been quite a busy bee in recent years....but i think these five movies are all excellent examples of the different styles he likes to play in....except that he also makes a lot of uber violent yakuza films...which just never really interested me

Audition - this is just simply the cream of the crop of japanese horror...and honestly is just a gorgeous film to watch...certainly a must see

Visitor Q - as Jackhammer said this movie can be taken different ways by different people...it could really ruin your day or really brighten it....it is a warped black comedy that examines the family unit....and truly brings a dysfunctional family together in the most disturbing yet hilarious ways...i honestly think this is one of the greatest dark comedies ever

Ichi The Killer - based off a comic book this takes a hyperactive approach to his direction....lots of fast cut action scenes and weird long "bike porn"....a fun story line intermixing psychotic characters with revenge and yakuza....some pretty disturbing torture scenes that are oddly as funny as they are horrifying to watch...fun action packed with a hint of "WTF"

Izo - this movie is very long very confusing and very gory/violent...basically it involves a samurai who is whipped back and forth in-between time and space and is basically hell bent on revenge...on all of humanity....this is Miike's attempt at making a Jodorowsky styled revenge/surrealism film

Thanks Bob! Audition is the only one I've heard of and know, so I'll probably get round to watching that first.

Just finished watching:

Pretty decent, not one I'd watch again but it's better than the Sixth Sense. A little disjointed in places but overall it was quite an engaging film.
