I dunno... I watched The Hurt Locker before reading or hearing most of the hype and I thought it was a decent movie but certainly not as good as people are saying. I don't know if it's because I was in the Army and deployed in Iraq that I found the movie to be slightly stale and same-old because of that, or what. Or I could just be really bad at spotting what makes a movie good... I was generally under the impression that all you had to do was like it or not. If that's the case, then don't mind me.

I got it a few days ago and haven't seen it yet but that quote from Flower Child is golden I have to say!

Haha.. yes it is. I agree with it too... I saw Where The Wild Things Are, and even having read the book as a kid, I can't say I would ever put that movie as the best of 09'. Not as an adult, anyway.

I could be biased though... 'cause that kid's cat-ear hoodie costume thing reminded me of CoryAllen2 the entire time. Made me ill.

^ A film from 2009 that truly surprised me, was A Single Man. My favourite for now, and pretty underrated imo.

^Surprisingly good film. Perfectly made.
But there's something fishy about Kate Winslet's nudity scenes occurring in ALL her films. This can't be a simple coincidence...

Purchased this recently myself after having loved the book for years. Was wary as to how well it would translate to film, so you give me hope yet!

It manages to both be haunting, chilling and cold as well as beautiful, sweet and innocent. What a beautiful film.

Bit of a long shot as it's the bonus DVD on Slayer's Latest album and only clocks in at 20 mins but in it's own right, it's an interesting piece with some nice ideas and an unusual approach to the usual short film.

NSFW (Part One from yt):

It does all make sense when viewed as it was intended. Although I think the Slayer music could have easily been skipped.

卧虎藏龙 [Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon]

I wanted martial arts and great action sequences and that's what I got - excellent film.
