Watched "Into the Wild" last night.

Good, despite my gf's and my outbursts of "****in douchbag!" throughout most of the run time (2:30 give or take). I didn't want to see this movie because I was expecting Sean Penn to hammer me over the head with a message about how we should all live in the wild and burn society to the ground. He never did that and remained surprisingly objective while telling the story of the last two years of Chris McCandliss's (SP?) life.

In the wein of If... but with a stronger gay content. Nothing explicit though.

I think the links to If.. are tenuous to say the least. They are two different films that just happened to be set within the public school system. If was as much about the class system in the UK as the public schools system. It was also filmed less than two miles from where I live and many scenes in the town centre seem so quaint now!

That looked like a private boarding school to me. In any case, both films are focused on the oppressive prefect system within such schools. The only real difference between them is the end result.

My God, a tale of suppressed homosexuality in Edwardian England. Absolutely marvelous. Ivory is a bloody genius!
