Johansson is great to look at, Jackman/Bowie are alright, and Bale/Cain are excellent.

What's laughable? It's not based on a true story or anything...

^That's one of the wittiest mind boggling stories out there.

And yeah, Chris Nolan is one of the best directors of his generation. None of his films is less than amazing. Still no disappointments for now.

I liked The Prestige quite a bit, especially the feeling that the whole film was a magic trick. I mean, the clues to the film's prestige, the great revelation and the biggest twist were laid throughout the film right in front of us. That kind of witty manipulation doesn't bother me because the film doesn't assume that the audience is stupid, so it doesn't hide anything just to hit us with the twist right out of nowhere (like Shyamalan often does).

Nolan actually wants us to participate in solving this puzzle, but he also knows that we'll be captivated by the film magic and too excited by the narrative. And like a good magician he knows that we want to be manipulated and we want to prolong this journey to the prestige. Although some people may have guessed what the big twist is right away, that doesn't take away anything from the film. Hell, Nolan even teased us with it throughout the film and Bale's wonderful performance gave us hints (this is even more evident on the second viewing). Journey is what matters and that is why this film has a great replay value.

These words from Michael Caine's character really sum up the concept of the film:

Now you're looking for the secret. But you won’t find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled.

Clever film, but not a great film. I enjoyed it, really enjoyed it. The whole magic and deception of it was really entertaining, but the believability wasn't there. It was very nonsensical, which as I said before brought a certain charm to it. Lots of my favourite films are nonsensical, but the twists were a bit out there and I didn't really buy the whole magician vs magician rivalry. Especially when one magician was chosen to inspect the other magicians act and he sabotaged it. Out of all them people, what are the odds that the rival magician would be the one chosen to inspect. Nolan really is brilliant though, so clever. But I think it's my least favourite Nolan film. I thought the Following was really good.

Ever heard of The Illusionist?

Oh, and I'm disappointed in you...

Yeah, Edward Norton. I enjoyed The Prestige a little more than The Illusionist. Both solid enough films. Have you seen Following? Really underrated Nolan film. I like the concept.

I recently saw the Korean movie--"Fighter In The Wind". A martial arts movie.
