Considering I didn't like The Big Lebowski much and don't really smoke I'm just sure I would love it then!

Same can be said for you, sir.

The whole thing in one 682 minute sitting. My brain hurts. But damn, that's a great movie.

Owing to the world cup I've barely watched any movies lately, so this is my first in quite a while...
Based on the historical novel by some bloke whose name I'm forgotten about the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre in Paris in 1572, and the conniving efforts of the Catholic French royal family to oppress the provincial Protestant ones in some way or other. Very well-written and gripping snapshot of a violently intolerant part of French history, made all the more interesting by some absorbing performances from the central cast and pretty nifty photography. |

I had the pleasure of seeing Precious recently, and it has stood up well to re-viewings. The acting is its high-point. Mo'nique brought home a well-earned oscar for her role as an abusive, self-loathing glutton.

Meh. Interesting enough story and everything, but nowhere near one of Mamet's best scripts. Not only are the characters a bit on the formulaic side, but Lindsay Crouse was so wooden in the lead role. Overall it was alright I suppose, but a let-down considering who wrote it though. |
