I, for one, thought Borat was pretty boring. I'm not old, am I?

Borat = funniest film ever. If anyone wants to recommend me a funnier one, be my guest. But that's the funniest I've ever seen. It actually hurt to watch it... in a good way.

Withnail & I

Borat was hilarious the first couple of times but I watched it a couple of months back again and it certainly lost it's sheen for me whereas Withnail gets better each time I watch it (which is well into double figures now).

Why must funny films STAY funny? Aren't the true hilarious films ones that don't have play back value, I mean if you're watching something so funny and you just piss your sides the first time you watch it.. why would you piss yourself the second time you watch it? It's like watching a film that contains a twist so unfathomable, watching it for the second time - it wouldn't be as good. The Usual Suspects doesn't have play back value, for that reason.

And if Withnail isn't your favourite comedy, and Borat isn't... what is? Anchorman isn't as funny as Borat for a start.

The true test of a good film IS repeated viewings. You don't listen to an album once and leave it at that. Repeated listens garner bigger rewards and truly great films are the same, even more so and it's easier to pick holes in films (something I am guilty of) so the rewards are greater if you still find it entertaining years on.

Withnail & I works because it's subtle. It's not full of belly laughs. It's nuanced and utterly believable because of it's realism and lack of heightened realism. I love it anyhow!

All I know is that I've watched Monty Python show and films many, many times and they were always funny (some less some more, of course). What's even better, there's always some detail I haven't noticed the first time that makes them even funnier.

I think film and music are totally different, can't compare the two. If I watch a film like the Usual Suspects, it was a good film, no question.. but do I want to repeatedly watch it? No. I know the twist.

Same thing with funny films for me, you can watch a film so much it starts to become unfunny.. Just me though. Repeated viewings aren't for me.
