Same as. I tend to dislike horror movies because I rate their quality on how scary they are and I don't get scared easily. At least not by movies. One thing that makes me YAWN in a horror is an excess of gore. And I don't like the way a lot of modern horror movies tend to rip each other off. In my opinion, drama is essential for good horror.

Eli roth claims that he has made the sickest movie ever. he takes us into a torture room then at the money shots the camera moves. either go all the way and show me you have the balls to put it on film or keep the camera outside of the room and suggest to the audience what is going on. There is one shot in the film where a guy is being wheeled around the torture factory and the guy (thus we) glimpse the various torture room,. That was much more horrifying.

i'm not into seeing violence for the sake of it though. It must have consequences and purposeful reasons (in the case of the protagonist at least) for me to appreciate it. Unless it's a zombie film of course, then I just want to see some chowing down!
yeah I know what you mean when it comes to horror but with me I give everything in horror a chance even the pg-13 ones.....half of the time they their horror elements are classy and demonstrated in the way that some of the R-rated ones should have taken their films then there's the other half of the time when they just rely on the pop-up factor with the music

I enjoyed Hostel 2 more than the first one though....I liked being able to see behind the scenes of the organization that bids on each victim and by purposeful reasons you mean like the Saw movies yes?

I have had a few people tell me that Hostel 2 is much better. I may give it a go.

hostel 1 was good only for that bit where that girls head got dragged along the floor by a car : )

but yeah anyway.

so i saw romeo & juliet last night.
three times.
i thought i'd hate it, & i did the whole time i was watching it the first time.
& then it wouldn't leave my head and now i am in love.

..shakespeare's still a goon though (Y).

hostel 2 is a much better film is terms of pure horror, hostel 1 had some elements of teen sex comedy and film noir, but part two is much more along the lines of a classic bava or argento giallo film.

very kickass.

The words Bava, Argento and Giallo tells me you know your movies.

This is an even better head explosion. The guy getting his head blown off is the guy who done all the special effects and is something of a legend in F/X. His name is Tom Savini and he got most of his ideas from his days a war photographer in the Vietnam war. He has also worked on Dawn Of The Dead and Day Of The Dead (the vastly superior originals). If offended please look away now:
