It wasn't hilariously funny, The Hangover was funnier, but what Adventureland had was charm. It was a nice story with a coming of age feel to it without being cringeworthy. I recently bought it on DVD, I'm disappointed you didn't like it.

Sowwwy

I'm not really into the Eisenberg/Cera awkward funny thing. Most of the time it's just simply awkward and makes me want to look away from the screen.

I like my comedies to have substance and all (and Knocked Up certainly does), but Adventureland just wasn't funny enough...

At least I watched it!

How to make a Michael Cera film.

I think Eisenberg is good at what he does, even though it's awkward there's a nice innocence about the characters that are endearing, even though you kind of know how things are gonna work out. I'm a fan of the awkward boy meets girl type film, as long as it's made well.. and Adventureland is made extremely well.

Yeah, I also found that movie to be pretty lackluster.. With pretty much the exactly complaints as V&F's initial post on it. Its only redeeming quality was the slight 'coming of age' feel to it. It would have been better if they didn't market it as a comedy. Does Kristen Stewart smile?

Adventureland was great

my favorite coming of age flick is a tie between Adventureland and Y Tu Mama Tambien.

The premise is cheesy as are some of the effects but it has one of the greatest last acts ever in Horror movies. Well worth watching just for the ending.

I totally agree. I thought the movie would be really cheesy going in and was surprised by how good it was.
