Great documentary. It amazes me that people don't realize these things...

Part of my mainland European cinema kick of late, and absolutely brilliant film. Really gripping story and great stuff to see from a film studies perspective as well, what with all the postmodern kinda allusions to quite a few different genres it's got going on. |

I think the theatrical scene with Brel's "Ne me quitte pas" cover alone, makes this film a must.

For some reason none of his 80s stuff really stuck with me.

I didn't do highbrow as I have only 2 nights spare a week and I grew up in the mindless 80's regarding cheese and after the fourth or fifth time of watching I have come to the conclusion that it's still a great movie. The direction is muddled ( split 3 ways),, the acting terrible. The music pure dribble but it still has charm and I watched it from start to finish. Life shouldn't be taken so seriously sometimes I think.

Wall-E is somewhat overrated, though, I agree!

^^I have no idea what any of those are other than Spirited Away (haven't seen it), which I would have no problem merely labeling as an "outlier"...
