Its reverse hype. people go in expecting great things and are underwhelmed. then they go let everyone know how bad it is. it is what it is: mediocre.

Not bad, cheesy in places but most enjoyable.

You've been watching some really *** movies lately, TCS.

The first half was cliche and disappointing, but the second half was interesting enough to bring it from the land of mediocre. Still not nearly as good as The Prestige though...

Match Point has Scarlett Johansson. I literally had to pause it every now and again to mas.. I mean, to admire her beauty. Come on, Match Point wasn't bad... I enjoyed it despite not being up to my usual standard. What other cack films have I watched lately? The only one I can think of that I watched recently was Nowhere Boy, and I thought that was a brilliant British film.

The Illusionist was mediocre, entertaining enough. Like you say though, The Prestige>>>>The Illusionist.

Scarlett Johansson, to me, is overrated .. Her role in "Girl With a Pearl Earring" for example was dreadfully boring! I don't really find her that gorgeous either to tell the truth.

Scarlett Johansson is a damn fine woman and certainly a worthy reason to watch a movie.

But...

You've not seen High-Fidelity?! Really?

He wasn't half bad in it, I thought he played the part well.

And on reflection Match Point falls under the category of a bit shit, but very entertaining.

Unless you're a woman, there's something very wrong with you.

I can agree with that. She's good-looking, sure, but you go out on the town anywhere on a busy Friday or Saturday night and you'll see plenty of women as, if not more good-looking than her. I just don't buy into that whole worshipping celebrities for their looks thing myself.
