What do I see tonight? JoJo Rabbit or Parasite?

Black Francis 11-16-2019 06:32 PM

Finally saw Black Panther. It was alright i guess. At one point his lil sister looks at his shoes and goes "What are those?!" And from then on i spent the rest of the movie hoping she would die.

She didnt. 4/10

I need to know if you picked Parasite, I’m so desperate for more people to talk that movie with

WWWP 11-17-2019 05:06 PM

I went with JoJo Rabbit bc I missed the last showing of Parasite. Going to try to see it this week, I can't wait, it is so up my alley.

Black Francis 11-17-2019 06:44 PM

Not enough white ppl in it. Seriously, there's only like 2 white guys in it.

2/10

Black Francis 11-19-2019 08:24 PM

Got Disney+ to finally see endgame. Long ass movie but it was awesome.

The Batlord 11-19-2019 08:26 PM

What's the point of getting Disney+ before the Marvel shows premiere?

Black Francis 11-19-2019 08:31 PM

To see Dumbo ofc.

I got it to see endgame and to see what else they had and it was only 7 bucks.

That line in it's self is one of the worst things to ever be in cinema and knowing one of the Paul brothers had such an influence on a culturally significant movie is depressing.

Movie is really cliche but not that bad. I found myself liking Killmonger way more than Black Panther mostly because he was a complex and more honest character. I like that they made him both evil yet sympathetic.

Black Francis 11-19-2019 09:02 PM

I was expecting her to say damn Daniel too. Killmonger was alright but his haircut was kinda stupid but i did like how he talked all ghetto in wakanda and his last words before he died.

I did enjoy the movie as i was watching it but after it ended it left me with this not so great feeling idk why. After i finished Ragnarok i still thought it was great.

I liked Killmonger's hair.

But yeah, I can relate to enjoying it while watching but not having that feeling sticking afterwards. Even when re-watching it.

Jojo Rabbit

It was pretty good, one of the better WWII movies I've seen

while waiting patiently and curiously for Sion Sono's first english language film Prisoners of the Ghostland starring Nicolas Cage to drop next year (maybe it'll even show in theaters here :0 ), he's dropped this Netflix original film seemingly out of the blue and god damn it he's done it again. Just furthering his status as my hella favorite filmmaker.

If Cold Fish didn't already show me how to dispose of a body explicitly enough then I sure as hell know now.

Dumbo. I wanted this movie to make me weep like i lost my momma but it didnt. I mean sure i cried a bit in that classic scene where his mom is locked up and embraces him but thats it, that was the only magical scene in this movie. The rest was meh and halfway through the movie i got bored. They even fcked up the pink elephant scene, How hard is it to get a cgi elephant drunk? I didnt like this straight edge dumbo. Sht remake.

Black Francis 12-14-2019 07:02 PM

Finally watched every marvel movie. My remaining ones were Thor 2 and Captain Marvel. I heard both were among the weaker marvel films and i guess Thor 2 is but Captain Marvel was alright. Its 90s jams: the movie, i mean i counted 5 as it went along, Elastica, Garbage, Tlc, ****in Nirvana outta nowhere and then they end with celebrity skin by Hole which is fitting as they were lucrating of the corpse of 90s music like Courtney.

I heard the walker brothers say in a review that Captain Marvel had no personality but i disagree, i think she had enough charm and depth but fury however imo didnt. Didnt dig funny fake bonding fury but thats about the only thing i disliked a bit from the movie the rest was pretty good.

Also saw The Phineas & Ferb crossover with Marvel movie, 10/10

The Batlord 12-14-2019 07:12 PM

People who didn't like Captain Marvel as a character are generally right wing snowflakes. She was one of the best contributions to the cast of characters in a good while. On a second viewing the movie itself is jankier than the first time around I won't lie. Totally looking forward to seeing Captain Marvel being a core member of the second generation of Avengers though.

The Batlord 12-14-2019 07:19 PM

I'm about twenty minutes into Snowpiercer and I'm really hoping it delivers on being an evil version of a Studio Ghibli movie (whatever that even entails). I can't quite justify why that's the vibe I get but there it is.

I look forward to that too but to be honest im not really sure whos gonna be in that 2nd gen Avengers team. I assume Black panther and ant man are gonna be in there.

I also heard they might start bringin the x-men to the mcu since some of them have ties to all this chars already

The Batlord 12-14-2019 07:44 PM

At this point the new Avengers are probably gonna be Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, and hopefully Ant-Man. Those are all bankable characters who've pushed units and I'd like to think Ant-Man got enough love from Endgame to make the cut. But the Disney+ shows are going to be a wildcard. If Wandavision is popular then that's two potential Avengers to shake up the roster. If Falcon and Winter Soldier is popular enough then I imagine Marvel might make a judgement call on adding one of them as a Captain America replacement. Then there's the Hulk. Then there's Starlord. Then blah blah blah who knows, but Spider-Man is set in stone along with Dr. Strange and Black Panther.

YorkeDaddy 12-14-2019 07:47 PM

I’m definitely not a right winger and I’m not a fan of Captain Marvel’s character. I thought she was pretty bland and I’m not at all a fan of ultra invincible unstoppable characters like her or Superman in any context, really. She did absolutely nothing interesting in Endgame either. I like my superheroes to be vulnerable, which is why Batman especially has always been my #1

Really? Her sarcasm and spunk wasn't enough character for you? I thought she was super likeable. And invincible characters can certainly work in the right context. I mean they downplay it but Thor could totes fight Superman. Ironman could hold his own too even if he couldn't win. It's all about the presentation. The whole reason you think of Superman as invincible is because the dichotomy between his power and his personality as a humble aw schucks farmboy is his defining characteristic, which has been kind of lost in the last few decades.

Black Francis 12-14-2019 08:19 PM

Yea, she's feisty. I also think op heroes breed op villains which keep raising the epicness bar.

I like that lineup altho i would maybe add Falcon as Captain America and maybe some guiding cameo by daddy Iron man. Its a solid lineup power wise but idk how their characters are gonna blend in without an integral character like Iron man for exmpl. I could see Strange or Capt marvel stepping up to be that kinda character but i have no idea how that is gonna go.

Personally i wouldnt add Wanda cus i think she's above an avenger and vision would be a great addition if he wasnt portrayed as such a pansy.

The Batlord 12-14-2019 08:34 PM

And yeah they're definitely gonna add the X-Men to the MCU within the next few years (Fantastic Four too since they were a Fox property). Too bad Hugh Jackman won't be a part of it cause I don't know how they're gonna follow with the next Wolverine. Would have been amazing to have him as an Avenger. He even joined the Avengers at the same time as Spider-Man in the comics.

Bro they're explicitly building Spider-Man as the replacement for Iron Man in the Avengers.

Good points on the presentation of invincible characters. I guess I just found Brie Larson’s lack of acting range to be off-putting. She had some cool quips and funny lines but that’s on the backs of the brilliant writers of the MCU. It also doesn’t help that she’s part of a universe that has like 20 characters that I like a lot more

Nice, both are incredible films. I honestly have a hard time picking which I prefer

The other top tier animated Batman film is Under the Red Hood, highly recommended

****in' absolutely. The lack of Animated Series actors hurts but damn is Under the Red Hood god tier. Best animated action scenes I've ever seen. That fight scene with Red Hood, Batman, and the cyborgs is a high water mark for animation in general. ****in' John Woo-core makes everything better.

But not the movie. It's meh.
