Watched The Conjuring 2 the other day, and spent the whole time making fun of limey accents.
Apollo 11 at my local indie theatre. Absolutely stunning. Just published a journal entry about it, waiting for it to go live to make a minor factual correction but regardless the film was incredible.
Saw Us last night -- wildly different from what I expected, so so good! I am going to try to catch it again this weekend. Peele's attention to detail and endless easter eggs are so fun and I am here for ittttttt. All hail Queen Lupita.

I watched A Christmas Prince the other day and it was every bit as bad as I hoped it would be.

Great Moments in Culture: Episode #293
One of my all-time favorite Sesame Street sketches is Cookie Moster as Alistair Cookie hosting Monsterpiece Theatre, proudly presenting his take on the most significant English language play of the 20th century - Samuel Beckett's existential tragicomedy, Waiting for Godot. May I present... "Waiting for Elmo." They seriously don't make television like this anymore. <3 |
After ages of it sitting unviewed on my server, I watched An Honest Liar this evening. It was inspirational, moving, and illuminating.
I may have to finally read Sagan's Demon-Haunted World next. https://i.imgur.com/OA72LI9l.jpg |
I've watched both in the last 24 hours and I think that Alien and Jaws deserve recognition as co-best horror movies of all time. Other movies may do some aspects of horror better than them but ultimately they're just the two best movies to watch that I would call horror movies and I find it impossible to decide between them.

Watching Men in Black today with my kid. It's Wednesday film with dad day.
Just bought a ticket to see Alien (1979) during my next Rochester trip. I've seen it once and don't remember much, but Wiki says it "was ranked by the American Film Institute as the seventh-best film in the science fiction genre, and as the thirty-third greatest film of all time by Empire magazine."
One of those movies that'll be great to see on the big screen. https://www.filmsite.org/posters/alien.jpg |
OMG I was crushed to realize that when I randomly looked at the schedule for the local independent theater that I'd missed Alien by a week. Have ****ing fun.
Alien is the pinnacle of close encounter films due to it being literally filmed on a small spaceship filled with air ducts and nooks and crannies. I love the film and I hope you realize how amazing it is.
Anyone on here seen Tolkien yet?
I wasn't even aware it was a thing. I'll remain dubious until I hear more but I am cautiously intrigued.
But in Googling it I did find that there is a new book/cash grab called "The Fall of Gondolin", which is one of the top 5 subjects in LOTR I have always wanted to be discussed in great depth so I'm actually more stoked for that. Mother****ing Gondolin, the greatest city in all of Middle-Earth's history. I'm hard now.
Tried to watch Evolution last night. God awful.
Obviously, Up in the Air was a total fluke. Dude's made one terrible movie after the other since Ghostbusters, which at the time was pretty damn entertaining. |

I'm only interested in it because I want to see how much of the film shows Birmingham and the places in it that inspired the books but I have read the Wikipedia page and although it says it is focused on his early life, Birmingham is not mentioned once which is disappointing. |

An interesting biopic? Come on man you know that **** doesn't exist.
I know, man. The biography of Darth Vader was kinda ****.
Can someone who's seen Endgame tell me some spoilers so that I can be a dick to my coworkers? Bonus points if you don't use spoiler tags.
I've heard tix are being scalped for thousands.

We could watch it together.

That makes things more interesting

Saw Avengers. Was tight. Captain Marvel's new do makes me hard.
Even with all of the hype and the expected critic jadedness, it's sitting at 96% over on RT - 365 thumbs up out of 379 critics.
I seen a lot of shitty 90%+ RT movies.
So how many times has everybody watched Beyonce's Homecoming it's been a few times for me

So how 'bout that Ant-Man, huh? Paul Rudd as a superhero wouldn't have been my prediction back in the day but damn if he wasn't made for Avengers. |
Finally finished Ant-Man and god damn is it fun. The fight at the end was ridiculous, awesome, whimsical, imaginative, intense, hilarious, and just plain badass. Definitely one of the best 1v1 fights in a superhero movie.
