I've seen that, it's ight

I prefer my oriental ridiculousness to inhabit the same splattery spectrum as stuff like like Boxer's Omen and Story of Ricky and various cuts from Yoshihiro Nishimura and Takashi Miike

Didya like the gorilla suit?

Mondo Bungle 02-13-2019 06:26 PM

yeah

I mean it's not not insane, I'm just a depraved human being

or I just gravitate toward horroresque cinema more

either way the upper cut through the guy's face at at 1:02:15 is a quality moment in human history

Oriphiel 02-13-2019 06:36 PM

I know

That's why I've been recing it here for years

Await Further Instructions

Characters flatter than a pancake are trapped in their home together while they have to follow instructions from their TV. Decent suspense and an interesting commentary on media. 6/10

Why did you use the Chinese poster?

WWWP 02-18-2019 03:15 PM

It was the right size and I didn't realize until after

I just saw it.

Big dumb action movie.

Cheesy lines and performances.

A ****topia of special effects.

10/10

I also saw the remake of Suspiria. Maybe not the most original piece of the art horror wave, but it's still pretty fun, and, like all movies of its type, it's more than worth the price of admission if you can trick a well adjusted person into watching it with you.

Slacker (1990)
One of Richard Linklaters first films. It stretched even my limits of enjoying dialogue-based films where nothing happens as the camera moves from person to person examining a day in the life of the mostly teenage and young adults of Austin, TX. Clever and amusing with absolutely no plot.

Marie Monday 02-19-2019 09:12 AM

^Slacker is awesome!

Dude111 02-20-2019 08:44 AM

I last watched BLUE THUNDER (1983) on VHS :)

I wish Ramona Flowers reminded me of my teenage days

liilbug 02-20-2019 02:08 PM

the last movie i watched..

the last movie i watched was Gummo. as someone who sits down and watches saw traps for fun i can honestly say that i found this low-budget indie film more disturbing. it has no real storyline and is more of just a look into the lives of a few characters but it is done so intriguingly that it's hard to look away. it felt much like the first time i finished watching eraserhead, though the films are drastically different i felt just as confused after watching each for the first time. i highly suggest this film to anyone who is interested in indie films or who just wants to change up their watchlist.
feel free to reply with either your thoughts on Gummo or with any movie recommendations you have for me. :)

Paterson

So there's two reasons why I really wanted to see this film and I'm surprised it took me so long...

1. I love Jim Jarmusch
2. I grew up next to Paterson.

Beautiful film. At first I couldn't stop looking at the scenery and figuring out where in the city they were and how accurately they portrayed where I grew up. They pretty much filmed gorilla style. Nothing looked staged or out of place. As the movie progressed I started to just REALLY fall in love with the story and characters. It's a very simple and laid back film, like most Jarmusch films tend to be, and I appreciated the anti-conflict that Jarmusch adds to his films. There were so many times I expected something bad to happen but the film just stayed so positive and beautiful the whole time. It allows you to focus on the characters instead of constantly having your emotions pulled away. You get to sit with them and literally observe their lives as they happen. Very beautiful film that enjoyed for a number of reasons.

debaserr 02-23-2019 11:10 AM

I should check that one out. Driver is a big reason I kept watching Girls.

You should know by now that I don't know how to spell words or use correct grammar. This happens once a week.

Better or worse than Valerian? I heard it sucked, but damn is it pretty.

Ray Ramano movie about the friendship between 2 middle aged friends and apartment neighbors when one of them gets diagnosed with a terminal illness

slow movie, unimpressive characters, understated plot (not much happens and it ends exactly like you expect) lot of the dialogue is improvised and it's funny at times in a very clunky Ramano way

only an hour and a half long

somehow a great movie though

I don't know why I saw it, but I'm glad I did

It's pretty hard to not like Ray Romano tbh. Even his old show was pretty likeable.

Rewatching Ordet by Carl Theodor Dreyer just for the hell of it. Probably my favorite religious-themed movie, and usually it’s not my favorite theme. I need to watch more Dreyer instead of Bergman.

I'm going to assume you've seen The Passion of Joan of Arc but for some reason if you haven't, please do.

Yes, i have :)

Funny how you mentioned Passion of JoA suddenly reminded me of Bresson’s The Diary of A Country Priest, which, i think i like more than even Ordet. Haha. Damn aging sucks.

Schindler's list at the cinema. :) It's the second time I watch this film and it's really spectacular.
