Definitely. I still love that movie even though I've seen it dozens of times. One of the things that I especially love about it, and which has aged surprisingly well, is the score. It adds a huge amount to the tension in the movie IMO.

Without sounding like some old codger in a rocking chair, they just don't make scores like this these days and I was listening intently last night with a view to finding it.

For a film that's 23 years old it stands up well and it doesn't fall into the usual action movie cliches, especially in the last 20 mins.

Not bad. I'm liking it. It doesn't dramatise W, as if he's very deep in essence, neither does it show him as an all time idiot.
I wonder how Oliver Stone was able to make a movie about a man that he loathes that much. It was surprisingly objective.

Predator is really nothing like either of those movies so I have no idea.

What? What? What? It's damn near a masterpiece! Predator is a little dated but then Movies have that quality that defines them regarding their time and place far more than music.

I will always forgive a movie regarding it's politics or points of view if it's an older film. Movies are much more easy to critique especially if they are genre specific and rely on effects that are outdated a year or two later.

The secret is to view without prejudice and enjoy on it's own level.

While we're on the subject of Alien I heard a great story about it on the commentary on one of my Dr Who DVDs.

When the film was premiered in London, Tom Baker (The current Doctor at the time) was invited along to it with a couple of the actors who were in the Dr Who episode they were currently filming at the time.
Apparently during the part of the movie where they're discussing going down into the bowels of the ship to kill the alien Baker shouts out at the top of his voice 'Why don't you all go down there and bore it to death.'

Quite a number of people gave him a round of applause.
