I don't foresee myself watching it again any time soon. This was my second time watching it, after I initially burned it to DVD and watched it, years ago. I'm pretty sure that I was confusing it with "Apocalypto," which I heard was pretty good, when I downloaded it LOL. Figured I'd give it another watch. Didn't float my boat.

Dude111 12-03-2018 12:33 AM

I just watched FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR (1986) on VHS :)

I miss VHS. It was so easy to record sh!t. I had a DVD recorder at one point, but someone borrowed it and I never got it back.

[MERIT] 12-03-2018 12:52 AM

Pineapple Express

I downloaded the director's commentary to listen to along with it.

I never watched it because I thought it looked kinda ****ty from what little I knew about it. Thought I might have been wrong, but I guess not!

Rush Hour 1 & 2

I haven't seen the first Rush Hour since I was a kid, and had never seen the second one. I will probably watch the third one tonight, if I can get the online torrent clients to cooperate.

Spoiler for DISCUSSION / SPOLIERS:
Lots of sword action and lots of subtitles. John Cusack was an odd choice, but it works. Adrien Brody absolutely nailed it! Jackie Chan did great, despite his age.

^ I think this is the best film in the trilogy.

I haven't seen it so this is purely based on box office turn out but I remember when we had this at my theater. I sent it back to the distributor after a week because 16 people came all week to see it. What a bomb.

It's definitely better than #2. And it has more action than #1 because we don't have to waste half the movie getting Lee & Tucker together.

Zombieland [2009]

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....11vqXb9dLL.jpg

Spoiler for SPOILERS / DISCUSSION:
Emma Stone is sexy as fuck. I can't decide if I like her better as a blonde or a redhead. Jesse Eisenberg is great. Very pedantic and neurotic. Who doesn't love Woody Harrelson? Abigail Breslin holds her own amongst the older cast. I've seen this movie probably a dozen times. I wish they would have worked Amber Heard more into the story, as she is gorgeaous as all hell. The Bill Murray cameo is very funny.

The Batlord 12-07-2018 12:46 PM

It's not Shaun of the Dead but it'll be a shame if it gets buried under a mountain of drek once the zombie craze is forgotten.

You work at a movie theater? I thought that you worked at a record store?

Spoiler for DISCUSSION / SPOILERS:
They made Jackie Chan look old as fuck in this movie. This was more of a drama and less of an action film than most of Jackie's movies. Less kung-fu and more explosions. He used his mind to defeat his foes by making explosives and setting traps, more so than fighting them one-on-one. It's hard to believe that he is 64! He is definitely one of my favorite actors. I have been on a Jackie Chan kick [no pun intended] as of late, watching Rush Hour 1, 2 & 3, Dragon Blade and Shanghai Knights. We really need a Jackie Chan appreciation thread.

The Batlord 12-07-2018 12:50 PM

Will always rep Drunken Master.

I love the pairing of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

[MERIT] 12-07-2018 12:56 PM

It makes me sad that we never got a Rush Hour 4. Jackie and Chris Tucker had such great chemistry!

There was / is a third Shanghai movie planned, called "Shanghai Dawn," which will take place mainly in China.

Mondo Bungle 12-07-2018 04:26 PM

can I watch The End of Evangelion as a standalone film cuz just looking at it it's somehow the greatest movie ever and I haven't even seen it or hardly know anything about it

someone also recommended it as a possible tearjerker with traumatic parental themes that I was unaware of so I feel like every second not spent watching it is just a waste of existence

Absolutely not. Evangelion is as dense of a show with plot, characterization, and themes as has ever existed so if you want to watch End of Evangelion then you absolutely have to watch the series. Much of the plot of the movie is 90% dependent not just on the plot of the show but on the journeys of the people involved. The movie is actually called episodes 25 & 26 because it is a replacement for the official ending of the show (don't ask long story).

Long story short watch the ****ing show. Luckily for you Neon Genesis Evangelion is a masterpiece so watching the whole series is a pretty good thing to do.

Damn it I'm bout to watch Evangelion again cause of you but my computer wants to lag so I'll just watch it on DVD cause I own the show and it's one of my most prized possessions.

Mondo Bungle 12-07-2018 05:11 PM

do you know Parasyte -the maxim

looks too crazy

The Batlord 12-07-2018 05:16 PM

I've heard of the show but haven't watched it. It's on my list though cause it's supposed to be about body horror. Have you checked out Shiki? It's like an anime version of Salem's Lot that doesn't have its horror game quite as on point but is better written in general. It's like if the vampires in Salem's Lot were real characters but still fiends trying to kill you and turn your small town into hell on earth. I wouldn't shout its brilliance from the rooftops but it's good and one of the few truly good anime horror shows.

Is there any anime as good as Junji Ito's Manga?
