Predictably enough though, I'd still have the original over this any day, mostly because Kubrick's one tries to get more characters to drive the plot, whereas this one focuses entirely on the rather dodgy relationship at the centre of it all. Plus the remake lacks Peter Sellers, who basically stole the show in the original adaptation.
could've done without nakey langella too. how does that even compare

When he leaves his comfort zone the results don't turn out as well as they could, I think you're right there. Hmm a female lead, that'd be different. Although I do like Leo but it'd be interesting for a female lead, but what kind of film is he capable of writing for a girl? The main character could be a prostitute and based around the streets, that could be a good plot.

Us > Scorsese.

Doesn't really hold up when all's said and done and done and said. Worth a gander though, especially as it's all on youtube in its entirety.

Haven't seen it in about a decade. Still holds up nicely. Definitely one of my favorite Auzzy films ever and will probably forever remain the highlight of the careers of Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths.

Boring, predictable, forgettable. Also, the long shots of the island look distractingly unlike Boston Harbor, where the movie is supposed to be set.

The critics aren't overly thrilled with it so I was worried, but I thought the people may still like it, that's yet to be seen at the moment, I might go and see it next week, worth a cinema ticket?

For me, no. But I don't know your tastes so maybe in your case it would be worth it. The friend I went to see it with actually enjoyed it.

Good acting, well written script. The basics for me..

I went to see a chick flick for someone's birthday once, it was awful but I quite like going to the cinema, so I reckon it'd be worth a watch since I do enjoy going cinemas

Even if it will be a let down..
