But you don't have two kids do you?
can't be spending all your paperboy money on a piece of **** horror when you already owe like a thousand in child support. Maybe i was looking at the movie too much like gritty reality tv, instead of just a fun look at how hard filmaking is. |

It was a little disappointing... It kind of sucked... It was watchable, but I expected more. The acting was OK, the cast was good, but the plot has some major holes and all in all this movie is just one big cliche...

I seen wolfman on Tuesday but never got around to posting about it. Let me start by saying I liked it, even though it got a lot of bad reviews from critics. I think its hard to work with werewolf's, I find them easily cheesy but I thought they did a good job with it. I have never seen the original wolfman... So I dont know how close it follows its story, but the story was something I thought of as being pretty basic, I couldn't nail it down but I felt like I had seen it all before. But their was a few throwback shots I liked... I never seen the original Wolfman but I have seen these iconic shots before. There was alot the shots were CGI (Go Figure) and the shots of the wolfman in costume were well pretty cheesy looking in parts. Some of the parts were people got gutted I thought were not really great either but there were some scenes where I think they used real guts or did a damn good job. Also it wasn't as Gothic as the preview let out... Truth is I went in the theater expecting something like Francis Coppola's Dracula style. It was a mix of gothic style but still had alot of studio elements in it. Now with me pretty much not saying anything I liked about it yet.... Let me say, it was alot more violent then I expected from the same guy who directed Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Jumanji. I really enjoyed some of the scenes between del toro and hopkins, and I kept seeing Hugo weavings as Mr. Smith but it fit considering it was still the guy hunting the main character. With all that said... I still walked away liking it so did my date, so I think it was a win that barely pulled it off for me. |

Johnston directed The Rocketeer, October Sky and Honey I Shrunk the Kids which were all fantastic, Jumanji is a mess but it's fun, he did The Pagemaster which was pretty forgettable. He also did Jurassic Park III, which was just f*cking terrible, I don't know if he deserves the blame or the writters... which btw were Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor... I wish I was making that up.
I still think Johnston is the best possible choice for the Captain America movie though. As for werewolf movies, it's been done before and this one seems not to offer anything terribly interesting, it's probably best to stick with American Werewolf in London, The Howling, Ginger Snaps and the original Wolf Man. Mich Nichol's Wolf with Jack Nicholson was pretty good too. Last edited by boo boo; 02-19-2010 at 05:40 PM. |

I don't know why you would say Johnston is the best choice.... Maybe his experience with the Rocketeer will pay off considering the time period it will be in. But they had the whole world to choose from you saying Johnston is the best choice? Marvel worries me when they make movies... They go way overboard on the scripts. Wolverine was good up until dead pool started shooting **** from his eyes, Xmen3, The first attempt at Hulk, Ghost Rider and fantastic four. Plus they play it way to nice in a lot of comics I remember being brutal. |

Anyone seen Shutter Island yet?
The critical response is generally favourable, 67% 'Fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 126 reviews. I expected something more 'wow' from the critics |

I just hope it won't be all CGI and stuff, Johnston works great with real man made special effects but not so great with CGI. Jumanji has some of the most dated CGI I've ever seen. Quote:
But Joe Johnston is a good director AND this is a good fit for him, so I have some faith. Anyway, speaking of Marvel, rebooting Spiderman and having it be directed by the guy who did 500 Days of Summer and a bunch of sh*tty music videos for nu metal and pop punk bands? Yeah it's gonna be a disaster. It's due to be released in 2012 so maybe that's the cataclysmic people are waiting for, angry comic con nerds rioting in the streets, I can see it now. Then again, I guess when you're a film maker with scorsese's reputation, it's difficult to make a film the critics will really take to |
