derp derp classic Chula

See? That **** helps nobody. Let's at least try to have a rational discussion like real grown ups.

I enjoy King's writing style in his better works.

And Bat: I didn't enjoy Carrie as much as you obviously did. And it's hard for me to relate to Pet Sematary except for the fact that I read it about a month after Sherri was born.

Miles may vary.

I feel that, but as someone who doesn't have kids and doesn't want any it's still a very emotionally engaging book.

Good to know. Only three books have made me cry. Not just choke up. Not well up. But flat out cry.

Pet Cemetary.
The Road.
On The Beach.

Trying to get through the last chapter of On The Beach was ridiculous. I had a huge wad of tissues in my hand and had to stop every few sentences to wipe my eyes. Flat out gut wrenching. If you are interested, be sure to read the entire novel and don't skip ahead.

The 1959 film does a pretty good job of getting the emotions across.

Chula Vista 08-07-2017 04:28 PM

I'd **** a rock before I'd **** that tiny headed, limp bearded, and bulbous knome.

Oh. You meant Frowny? The dude's a stain. Even if you wanted to, you can't **** a stain.

Frownland 08-07-2017 04:28 PM

But I was going to ask you to the prom and everything :(:(:(:(

Oh well, as much into buttstuff as I am I should probably go find someone who's better at **** talking. How long is your tongue, bat?

I can try to reach your prostate but no promises. Just please wash and shave your anus.

Frownland 08-07-2017 04:48 PM

I'll give it a real good washin but you're gonna have to learn how to love the dark floss.

The Girl With All the Gifts

This is a great twist on a standard horror convention that I won't give away because you should go into this movie blind. Incredible world building and the fantastic child acting and chemistry. There were some undeveloped parts, but overall I found it incredibly engrossing and compelling. Check it out my dudes. 8/10

If this isn't one of the bloodiest films ever made. Grade A French horror/slasher. Hands down one of my favorite horror films, although the killer needs to have a bigger following she's completely underrated. And so is this movie. Imagine if the original Halloween was made in 2008, involved gallons of blood, and the killers a chick whose purpose is not too off from that of Michael Myers.

Paedantic Basterd 08-08-2017 03:39 PM

Dr. Strange was surprisingly solid for an origin film (which I'm feeling pretty bloated with).

Chiomara 08-08-2017 08:55 PM

The Dark Tower. I knew nothing about the books or story line before watching it, so, to me it felt like your typical cute Disney or Marvel movie about a magical wonder-boy. Needed more Idris Elba and less of Matthew Mcconnaghey's overwhelming hamminess.

dude i honestly hated this film tbh.

Yac 08-09-2017 06:22 AM

Dr Strange was surprisingly good. One thing that really impressed me were the special effects - I was sure cgi won't surprise or impress me anymore, and I was proven wrong.

Well at least you're honest.

I could see why you wouldn't rate it as highly as I did but hate seems a bit extra.

The kid from "We're The Millers" completely stole this whole fucking movie. Even though he was a racist fuck, he deserves an Oscar and plenty more roles for the future.

Paedantic Basterd 08-09-2017 09:01 PM

I hated Guardians II, and I seem to be totally alone in that, but I thought that the characters bordered on self-parody and that the whole story was a ****ing mess. It's like James Gunn filmed a first draft and didn't refine anything. It was legitimately a sloppy story.

They definitely built off of what Inception did with the buildings and having landscapes/rooms rotate 90 degrees at a time.

They did,but they did it significantly better imo.
Then again Inception bored me.. people were raving about it like it was the 2nd coming of Christ and it wasn't.
I wasn't expecting much from Strange, and I got a great movie.
Maybe that's the crucial difference.

Paedantic Basterd 08-10-2017 11:16 AM

Awe, I love Inception.

Frownland 08-10-2017 11:39 AM

It's a fine film, but it gets a lot of credit for complexity and inventiveness that it doesn't have. I could see how going in with high expectations would make that movie a big disappointment.

Expectation is half of any experience. Honestly, if someone tells me I will like something I consider it a spoiler and it affects my viewing experience (because I expect to like it more than I am liking it as I watch, which ends in disappointment).

When I saw Inception the first time I literally only knew the title of it and had heard no reviews, so I was pretty pleased.

MicShazam 08-10-2017 01:24 PM

Just watched Münich. Like most Steven Spielberg movies, I thought it was pretty tedious. There was a lot of good scenes in the middle of the movie, but I was terminally bored well before the ending. I'm not sure I think Spielberg has done anything good since Jurassic Park.

I liked Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can, Minority Report and Schindlers List. Nothing much since 2002 though.

I forgot Catch Me If You Can! I've watched all of those and that movie is the only one that really impressed me. I've watched it several times.

Frownland 08-11-2017 12:21 AM

Amistad and Lincoln are great, even if Lincoln was carried by impressive acting.
