Fantastic movie! Suck a memorable cast of characters.
Real downer of an ending too... I did not see that coming!

I love that movie. The book is great too.

Justthefacts 06-27-2017 07:54 PM

Top 10 material.

Mondo Bungle 06-27-2017 10:09 PM

I watched A Scanner Darkly and Naked Lunch back to back, and unbeknownst to myself they were so very very similar

One of only three movies (ever) to win all top 5 Oscars.

Best Movie
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Director
Best Screenplay

Frownland 06-27-2017 10:32 PM

It Happened One Night is another one that swept the Oscars like that and in the context of its time it's a good movie but damn, we've really come a long way. Cuckoo and Silence of the Lambs hold up much better today.

Once again, we totally agree.

What the hell is going on with the world?

Oops. K and H aren't even next to each other on the keyboard. Misspelling or Freudian slip.

I love David Cronenberg movies. Naked Lunch is one hell of a weird experience. If you haven't seen it, make sure to check out 'Existenz' too. It is similarly strange, which is a good thing.

I saw Existenz way before diving into the others.

I think the only one I haven't seen is Videodrome.

grindy 06-28-2017 12:16 PM

I thought Naked Lunch was terrible. Felt like a retarded sitcom Disney version of WSB.

Frownland 06-28-2017 12:24 PM

No you're a retarded sitcom Disney version of William Shakespeare Boi. I hated Judy Davis's overracting though.

grindy 06-28-2017 01:49 PM

That actually sounds like a compliment.

I wouldn't call Videodrome a great movie, but it's worth a watch. And pretty strange too.

Frownland 06-28-2017 02:58 PM

It's also one of the most overrated things that ever thung. Still good though.

Mondo Bungle 06-28-2017 05:13 PM

definitely his best one

I watched this and thought it was kinda lame so I'm gonna get back on track by watching sick Giallo films

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-28-2017 06:40 PM

you're a ***got, that movie rocks.

One of the few Aronofsky films I've yet to see. This films too good I hear to take that comment seriously. Def watching tonight.

Mondo Bungle 06-28-2017 06:49 PM

sorry

Chula Vista 06-28-2017 07:13 PM

Not being able to appreciate Pi is like not being able to appreciate 69.

One of the most unique, original, and coolest movies ever made. And maybe the best drill scene of all time.

This is on par with Gilliam's best stuff.

Mondo Bungle 06-28-2017 07:18 PM

it's fine I guess

forget I even said anything

Frownland 06-28-2017 07:30 PM

Told you that you should have seen it when you were 14.

Numbers are gay

Chula Vista 06-28-2017 10:23 PM

69 goes both ways.

I probably like Pi as much as I like Jacob's Ladder. So very mildly

Jacob's Ladder is indeed totally overrated.
I guess dumb people are really easily impressed by that lame twist.

Mondo Bungle 06-29-2017 06:18 PM

coupled with the most corny ending to any movie ever

No, heard lots about it though, looks like a right heavy action flick

Two of the most vile bad guys ever + an extremely kick ass good guy + tossed to the curb young and sweet victim + revenge + South Korean mafia + completely top shelf movie making in every single regard......

Ya, it's pretty damn good.

Justthefacts 06-30-2017 12:38 PM

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

I will admit, out of the two films in this trilogy that I've seen thus far, it's the weakest. And by weakest I mean it's pretty damn solid. James Franco I can't take too seriously sometimes but he wasn't too bad. Seeing Caesar's origin is pretty fascinating (it's been a few years since I've watched it) and seeing the progression of who he will become at an early age was handled beautifully. Well paced, incredible work from Serkis. All around great beginning to an allegedly epic trilogy. B+

Catching up on Dawn tonight. I just can't wait for the new one.

What you mean? I think it's pretty decent. It lags a bit but no real solid complaint.

Finished Gladiator last night. Thought it was good until the end, which was disappointing.

Got Moonlight on the D/L for now.

The Batlord 07-02-2017 02:03 PM

I love Ridley Scott's movies, but that is one of the few I'm not all that happy about any longer. The best thing about it by far is Joaquin Phoenix and his creepy overacting.

He was good in it. I really enjoyed the story line but the way he just died at the end was disappointing and then burying those things was a bit cringe.

Hoping this Moonlight film is good.

The Batlord 07-02-2017 02:43 PM

But the battle at the beginning was the ****. Pretty much all the action scenes were violence porn as I remember.
