Twilight felt like a drawn out episode of some teenage drama like Dawson's Creek - only more embarassing because it had an emo moralistic vampires in it that glitter in sunlight. Bloody hell. I mean - it's too embarassing to me, but it has production value and if you don't think it's embarassing, then I can see why the movie might have some appeal. Still, I don't get why teenagers would go ape**** over it ..
Seriously, bland drama with vampires. For love stories, there are better films out there. For vampires, there are also better films out there. Even mixing the two, there are better films out there. I don't get it, but then again I'm not a teenager. I wanna watch Sherlock Holmes. I've read quite a few of the stories and watching the trailer, he doesn't seem like the Holmes I know - a character who strives to remove all emotions from his life so that they won't interfere with his skill at reasoning and deduction. Still, I guess it might be fun so I'll just try and lower my expectations for the character and hope for a funny film.

What, why? I watched it being a big Depp fan and found it quite boring, funny in places, nothing to the plot, a load of drugs and no excitement. Depp portrayed the character well as his eccentric characters are what he can play best.

saw Avatar
first off, see it in 3D, it's honestly worth that. in fact, seeing the MASSIVE world, the detailed creatures, plants and overall look of the movie is probably the main, if not only reason to see it in the first place. so yeah, visually they went into great detail, but maybe it was too much detail, because after about 2 and a half hours of movie, i barely knew anything about the characters other than the marine and one or two other people. there was almost no fleshing out of the characters, in fact when i started hearing their names being mentioned in the later half i had no idea who was who. that was a shame, because there were people that i felt needed a little more explanation on why they were there and seemed like they had an interesting story to tell. storywise, it was pretty ok, and yeah, i didn't mind that it had borrowed from other movies, but a few parts felt a bit unexplained or a little too convenient for the plot. i will say though, that it did find a pretty good balance between the more action and more lighthearted moments, especially what followed after the military attacked Hometree. i wil say that this movie really did keep me entertained, even for it's flaws. so in short, GREAT visuals. everything else, ehh, but for not only the length but the time Cameron wittled away on it (15 ****ing years) there should have been ALOT more to it than some pretty graphics. still, if what i mentioned is not a big deal to you, you'll find that this is a pretty entertaining ride and in all not too bad a movie.

I saw this two days ago and loved it. It was way better than I expected and I felt it managed the tricky balancing act of being true to the spirit of Sherlock Holmes while still being a new take on the old character quite well.

I saw this again, this time in 3D. I love it, to be honest, and I know people had their sights set very low due to all the hype it was given, but I think it was fantastic and went beyond expectations. James Cameron is just awesome. I don't think Cameron has ever made a movie purely just for showcasing insane visual effects, and although I thought this would be the case with Avatar, it most definitely wasn't. Not only was it a deeply felt love story, but a commentary on human (and non-human) nature, spirituality, togetherness, and life. And also, if you'll allow me to be girly for a brief moment, Sam Worthington is pretty fine! So to conclude... pretty much after seeing this film I no longer want to be human nor do I want to live on Earth! |
