It's been a few years since I have seen this and I needed to watch something intense. A tale of domestic violence, cultural identity and social problems that is as difficult to watch as it is rewarding. A side of New Zealand that's not in the brochures.

Just saw this for the first time. Blended some hilarious moments with some truly disturbing ones really well. Definitely one of my favorite Tim Burton movies (that I have seen). I would recommend it to anyone who likes their humor with a little twist |

^ That movie ****ed up my life. I saw it when I was 6 or 7 and I've had an intense fear of alien's ever since. I stopped eating Mars Bars after seeing it and now whenever I get scared I reflexively tuck my thumbs into the palms of my hands to keep them safe from being bitten off.

It's weird, I've just been seeing a shitload of Tim Burton/Jack Nicholson movies. In the past month I think I've seen: The Shining (Nicholson) Batman (both) Edward Scissorhands (Burton) Chinatown (Nicholson) Mars Attacks (both) |

Excellent stop motion animation from down under. Great design and a bittersweet and funny story. I'd also recommend his previous, short film, Harvey Krumpet. Interesting and as charming as most Woody Allen films but a little too chaotic. I don't respond well to high concept films. Loved the ending though, that took it up a notch. Interesting story based on Italian folklore but unfortunately a very bland experience. I'll blame it on the cardboard characters and the lack of a strong, magnetic character which elevated their previous two features, Night of the shooting stars and Kaos to some of my all time favorites. I'll give San Michele aveva un gallo a try before I stop ruining their rep with me.
