Pan's Labyrinth is a movie I've been wanting to see for a while.
I though Withnail & I wasn't quite as good as The Big Lebowski, but then again BL is one of my favorite movies of all time so it's hard to beat. I'd still recommend to anyone who likes comedy of any sort. |

He's also the only negative character so I wouldn't really jump to calling it gay-er or gay friendly...
As for Lebowski being college asshole material, I agree, but thankfully it's also much smarter, has a much wider appeal and is better written and by much more talented people than Bruce Robinson, as his post-Withnail career has clearly shown (The Killing fields was pretty crap too). But to each their own. :|

Has anyone else seen The History Boys? The guys who plays Monty plays another old gay man who's into even younger men and it's pretty funny. |

Nah, Withnail and I is simply slower and much more paced. It's from a completely different era of cinematography and cannot be watched with the same mindsight but it's by no means less clever or more poorly written. I can understand that someone who isn't English may not appreciate to an extent the characterisations and will cede that the appeal is narrower but you're definitely selling it short in your synopsis.
