Somewhat of your typical indie romance with hints of surrealism. Awkward guy and quirky girl fall in love but personal problems get in the way before they run off into the sunset together. Zooey Deschanel plays the quirky girl and she can never do wrong in my eyes, also you can kinda see her b00bs in one scene. The awkward guy is played Paul Dano who's character has the personality of a piece of wood. But he can't be blamed I'm sure I'd be all wood if I was next to Zooey Deschanel, ZING! However my favorite character was quirky girls father played by John Goodman. A big intimidating guy with back problems and has the funniest lines in the film, he really steals the film. But overall if your into indie romance films you'll probably enjoy this one, but it's no Garden State,

I was alone for the weekend so used this time to watch some films and binge on junk food. I watched the following, with my ranking out of 10 in brackets.
Watchmen (8) Hellboy (6) The Shape of Things (9) Hannibal (7) |

In the last week or three:
Hellboy (very good) City Of Lost Children (I'd seen before but Z hadn't) Matrix 3 (not as bad as everyone said, but not especially good either) Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid (an all-time favorite with Limits Of Control and Fitzcorraldo) Harry Potter 6 (or whatever number it is) Ghost World (weird but good) |
