Okay one thing that I was unhappy about was indeed the interesting backplot on Tim Riddle's history. One of the things I missed in the movie was the memory where Tom Riddle has killed 7 people and comes back to Hogwarts and asks Dumbledore for a job. But it has been said that the final 2 movies (because they're splitting the rest into 2 movies) will focus more on the backstories to Voldemort and also Snape.

Plus, the book also has its fair share of quirky teenage romance. And the movies are working off the books. So I don't seem anything wrong with it. The quirky humour lightened the mood from all the dark stuff going on. Since there were no lighthearted whimsical elements in this one such as flying cars or naughty pet owls or misbehaving broomsticks, they had to balance out the darkness with some kind of lightness. I'm a huge, huge fan of books and personally I really enjoyed the movie.

People in my opinion tend to get too critical when it comes to film from book adaptations. When really, the Harry Potter films have been very loyal to the books. All of the characters, settings and scenes are pretty much exactly as I imagined them to happen in the novels. They're done a great job. The only thing I miss is John Williams directing the musical score.

I'm still hold out hope that Danny Boyle will make a movie version of the book Porno using the same actors.
Porno was a terrible book I thought. Ewan McGregor reportedly hates the book.

That's a relief, didn't know that.

The book had that romance in there because it had time to tell you everything. I expect the movies to cut to the chase and give people the information they need (if they haven't read the books).

Honestly, if I hadn't read the book I'd have left the theater feeling confused and unsatisfied. To quote my little sister, "Basically nothing happened in that movie!"

Yeah, I do know what you mean. I went with my roommate who hasn't read the books and he needed to have some things explained. Of course the books are going to be more in-depth though, it would be possible to transfer the ALL the content and atmosphere to the movie completely.

But yeah as I said... as far as I know that movie was simply just a lead-up to the final two which hopefully won't be a let down.

Yesterday for about the fifth time. What can I say? Utterly adorable and who doesn't fall for Amelie when watching this? One of the rare films that put a smile on my face.

At the climax my heart literally stops. I'm a big softy for that film.

^ Ditto. Amelie is definitely one of my favourite films. So quirky and clever.

I also didn't realise how passionate it is the first time that they kiss. They don't touch lips at all which makes it even more charged. I cannot find a single fault with it.

Yeah Amelie is a real charmer along with La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful).
