Just saw bed time stories with Adam Sandler, its pretty good. I expected more having Sandler in it, but it is a disney movie I believe.

Wouldn't really say I regret seeing it, but torture movies really don't do anything for me. This is single-handedly the most f-ed up movie I have ever seen and I don't even know if I would recommend it to anyone, unless you're a huge fan of the Saw and Hostel movies, and I'm talking big, like you got an erection while watching those movies.

I remember picking up this movie when Christian Bale was still a nobody and thinking it would be like Matrix Revolutions (which at the time I loved - I didn't know any better) and I got so bored I returned it.

but obviously i've grown up and now i feel like revisiting the film.

I wouldn't bother. It's two half decent films cobbled together to make a mess. If it stayed with the dystopian themes then it would have been great or if it just stayed as a big dumb action film then cool too. As it was it just became a mess.

i believe it. i was thinking of giving it another shot because of the lack of action movies i've seen lately. not worth it, though? what would you recommend?

After hearing how great the movie The Color Purple was for the past 24 years I finally rented it. Guess what? It's not that great. And I'm not one of those habitual Spielberg-bashers at all, I think he's made tons of good movies, but I think he did fairly poor job directing this one. The biggest flaw by far was the film's uneasy marriage of gritty, disturbing drama with occasional bursts of cartoonish humor, but I also thought the presentation of the story in general was kind of scattershot.

On the positive side, it's by far the best performance of Whoopi Goldberg's career. Before watching this movie I honestly had no idea she could be that good of an actress when she wanted to.

Wow...really? I love this movie to pieces! I guess I didn't find the humor that off-putting or distracting from the drama, I thought they complimented each other actually. And...I always sob like a baby at the end.

I agree with you that Whoopi Goldberg's performance was top notch, as was Oprah Winfrey's (IMO).

Arahan. Great action with a good dose of humour too.
