I spent most of the time during this movie feeling very conflicted and confused by the way the main characters interacted with each other. What I really appreciated though was the transformation of Dustin Hoffman's character David from square, sheepish nice guy to savage beast. It happened so seamlessly that I was sitting there watching, completely engrossed in what was going on, and suddenly I realized...hey, this guy has balls now, when did that happen? It was un-naturally natural. And I wasn't sure I liked him at that point. More conflict and confusion.

I loved that movie........well, maybe "love" is not the appropriate word for something which truly made me sick to the stomach, but wow, did it stir some shit or what. :|
It was fast paced and dynamic so it never got dull but it ultimately played out like a lame TV film, especially compared with his subsequent two films. He's grown immensely as an author. 6/10 But this scene blew me away.

If you begin to deconstruct a Bond film you could rip it to shreds in terms of reality, however it was still pretty damn good although a little humour wouldn't go amiss here and there. Thanks to NSW's reminder, I dug this out as i've had it for a few months. The first half has some spectacular fight scenes but the more thoughtful and introspective second half resonated more with me. Still a fantastic movie though.

It was ok I guess. I didn't understand the necessity of a few scenes and the beginning was rather confusing. I watched the bonus features with the director and the cinematographer and apparently there are a lot of other meanings to certain scenes that completely went over my head and which frankly had me rolling my eyes. Like, the way the light divides the room is meant to indicate the duplicity of the main character, the setting of the party in the basement is meant to indicate the subconscious, the lighting was harsh and the scenes mostly dull in colour at the beginning then changed as the film went on and the character changed blah blah blah. I didn't really care...*philistine* And what was with the scene in the end with the protagonist sitting in front of the naked man on the bed? I dunno, does anyone? Blergh....6/10
