Yeah. It's impossible to make a completely faithful adaptation of anything.

It's pointless to faithfully adapt something anyway.

Lets take Stephen King as an example. Pet Semetary is one of his best horror books, it's a great read and one of my favorites of his, but then they based a movie on it which King did the screenplay for and it was just plain awful.

It was SO faithful to the book that it was completely pointless. Especially when you take the horrible directing, acting and cheap production into account.

I love King's books but god, so many crap movies have come out of that guy. Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, Stand By Me, Misery, Dalores Claiborne, The Shining, Carrie, The Dead Zone and Cujo have been the sole exceptions to the rule. Well, Christine had it's moments.

I think a well made adaptation of IT would be awesome, if it were handled by a pro like say David Cronenberg or Guillermo del Toro.

And of course he did the made for TV version which was just a piece of crap.

He didn't like it because it wasn't faithful to his work, I understand his personal dislike of the film for that reason. But it's obviously clouded his judgement.

Kubrick was never one for faithful adaptations. A Clockwork Orange was the same way. He just knew how to make them more awesome.
I know. Unbelievable. I think he's completely overated anyhow (King).

I believe in the comics he had bone claws until he was captured by that organization in Canada as an adult (Project X or some sh*t like that?).

I think he deserves his praise in the context of his genre, when taking his peers/competitors in the horror and thriller genres into consideration, he's certainly the best and most important. Lol, I mean just look at the guy's competition, you ever read a Dean Koontz book? Goof grief.

But worthy of being the richest author in the whole goddamn world? Eh.... Maybe not.

-some spoilers-

I saw Watchmen last night and kinda giggled at Dr. Manhattan's friggin penis just hanging right out in the open. I mean, he had underwear on earlier, did he lose them? I could have totally went without seeing that thing just hanging limp.....that and Silk Spectre II (and the original Silk Spectre) were both whores.

The movie was a bit long but I actually liked it. It helped that The Comedian was pretty friggin hot.

Some scenes, I just felt were thrown in for some T and A value and didn't really progress the story, though I've never read the graphic novel, so maybe it did have a point....just didn't want to see SS II's limp, small boobs or Nite Owl II's butt. I mean, I'm not against that sort of thing but I don't like when it has nothing to do with anything and is just thrown in there as an excuse to show naked people.

We read the play in English so its only natural we'd watch the film, though I wasnt expecting it to be so good, the acting was grade A. And even though Winona Ryder's character was a lying bitch she was still very attractive.

OMG, a penis! It was actually featured in the graphic novel and I found it refreshing that they didn't censor it, even if it did provoke a giggle from the crowd every time it was shown. And NOII had a great butt, whass wrong wichu??

I know, I saw pics before from the novel, it was just so distracting just hanging there, lol.

His butt was great but his face wasn't so I was left very sad.
