I just watched part of Moonwalker in my Design class. God bless Michael Jackson.

Anyhow, I think the film was well done. Pi is one of those movies that is very raw, definitely indie, which I love. It's thought provoking, and touching in points as well. I think it's a film that has to be watched from a certain point of view, you know? The only real complaint I have, is the soundtrack.
Great film. I wasn't too fond of the music, either. The ending was very touching, and I've been partial to black and white films lately, too.

My recent movie is Oni Baba. Really ****ing weird, but great cinematography. Yet another film that reveals more strange Japanese, but nonetheless powerful and artistic.

Onibaba is amazing, horror artistically conveyed. I had a choice between ordering the Criterion edition of that or the BFI's Woman of the Dunes recently... I chose the latter

Kaneto Shindo who directed it is one a new-wave fave as well, I'm sure at least one person here has seen Naked Island

Oh I think I've bookmarked Onibaba somewhere, if only because the description reminded me of Kwaidan, which was amazing.

OT: The Philadelphia story - 6/10

The dialog was kinda annoying ("You're a goddess" "You're a queen" "You're a bronze statue" "You're" oh shut up already!) and the comedy potential of the 3 leads was underused (I thought) so it became an odd mix of neither serious drama nor romantic comedy...sort of put me to sleep to be honest. Love the actors though, especially Hepburn. She fucking kicked ass in the 30s...

ooh wiki sez i will like that... actually some of the eeriest scenes I've come across were in old Japanese films, it's less shock-based and more visual with a lot of dread... Kurosawa's last (?) film Dreams had some really effing creepy bits too.

I made a huge concession with Onibaba and watched it on some crummy website, it's something you rally want to see on a big screen in a darkened room. At 3 in the morning

Showgirls. Hilarious. Did no one think to say "Cut!" on that horrible sex scene?!
