If it makes you feel any better it's by no means Britain-specific, Hollywood remakes everything. I actually heard there are plans in the works to do a remake of Short Circuit for fucks sake.

I swear. The quantity of crappy sequels, remake and adaptations of tv shows, comic books and video games has never been greater than it is now. And it seems every other movie has to be based on a book or a play. Very few people in hollywood nowadays have ideas of their own.

That's not true, it's just that the good scripts get passed over in favor of doing shit like a remake of Friday the 13th.

Yeah, I didn't really take to Brighton rock (Attenborough was just a little over the top for my taste) but Brief encounter I absolutely loved. Celia Johnson is an incredible actress, I got goosebumps during her monologue in In which we serve...

I'm actually going through the BFI top 100 list so Billy liar was gonna be on there but I'll push it up the queue...

Further suggestions are welcome, while I'm still on the Brit trip...
