I liked Breathless, not that it left me breathless or anything. I preferred Alphaville though.

imdb is good, you just have to take the user ratings with a grain of salt. i've found that generally reading user reviews and just finding the one that seems the most coherent and intelligible is the best way to rate a movie.

^^
agreed. I only use IMDB for specific info-release year, DoP etc. I just go by word of mouth, friends reccos, film magazines and a general inquisitive nature regarding movies.

Usually I stay away from films that are rated less than 7, but Naked lunch was a classic...In my experience, films that have a really good rating (8 or above) turn out to be excellent films. But yeah, sometimes you get really ridiculous ratings...like Crank has a 7.something rating...that cracks me up.

I despised Breathless. It's quality film making, but Jean-Paul Belmondo spends the entire movie ripping off better actors and he just comes off as a douchebag the whole time.

The Darjeeling Limited.

I've been dying to see this movie, and it finally came out to theatres on friday. It was honestly one of the best films I've ever seen. Wes Anderson is one of today's greatest film makers.

Blood Diamond- It was hand wrenching. Although Leonardo's accent kept going on and off, which was a bit bothersome.

*Spoilers*
A good film until the usual sickly sentimental shots of a characters demise backed with saccharine coated music and stunning vistas, otherwise not bad!

DOOM.

Yes I know, but it was only £2.00 (about a dollar ish) and I don't do computer games so I thought why not? It passed two hours away. It was big stupid dumb fun and the first person shooter sequence was pretty cool.

I agree, during that scene when that certain character was dying I decided it would be a good time to start painting my nails neon green, if you get what i'm saying.
