Anyone catch Skinamarink? It overstays its welcome quite a bit and has weirdly expository dialogue for the form, but otherwise I thought it was great. Definitely a lot of notes of James Benning, Lynch, and Michael Snow (who died a few weeks before it hit the screens) throughout. The ending and a few other scenes of barely visible faces and doorways were revolutionary and extremely effective. Above all it's worth seeing just to see the angry bros walk out of the theatre. Excited to see what the director does next and what this influences, this is a brand of horror that's been pretty much untapped until now.
This movie has me interested - thinking about watching it with my wife who's a big baby with horror movies - I see that the movie revolves around two kids, there's no weird sexual stuff is there? That **** is a no go for her. Assuming there's not, I could probably convince her to watch it with me.

There’s no weird sexual stuff. Definitely worth a try even though for me it was a complete waste of time

YD in here with the most Ohio native ass takes. Stick to Forrest Gump.

If it piques your interest at all, go see it. I feel like even the haters had a pretty memorable theatre experience with it.

I didn’t like Skinamarink or Aftersun but we have a lot of overlap in movies we like but that doesn’t matter since I didn’t like Skinamarink or Aftersun, those are the only two movies ever made

Pretty embarrassing that you’ve only seen one of the two movies that have ever been made

The sarcasm here is very subtle...kind of like the subtlety of Aftersun.

That's sad I've heard such great things about it. I will still give it a shot to form my own opinion of it.

The last movie I saw was The Glass Onion. I did see it when it had it's limited release in theaters but ended up watching it again since it's on Netflix. I love all the easter eggs I found watching it the second time around. I can't wait til the 3rd one comes out and completes the Benoit Blanc trilogy.

PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE (2019)

Really beautiful story of a romance between the daughter of an aristocrat in the 18th century, and the woman hired to paint her portrait so that her mother can marry her off. The last 15 or 20 minutes or so are breath-taking.
