Bo Burnham Inside The praise this is getting is totally warranted. It's a f*cking piece of art. What starts out as a normal comedy special made inside one room with one person slowly turns into something utterly profound. It's beautifully honest and expressive and the music SLAPS. I didn't know I even liked this kind of music but it's incredible and you should all watch it. The dude made my favorite film of the year. |

Yeah it's getting some buzz. I just saw the trailer on netflix yesterday and it seemed really cool. I put it on my queue.

One of the films I've recently seen and enjoyed a lot. Uncomfortable and claustrophobic, almost POV of a girl having a breakdown at a traditional Jewish funeral, but it's funny and has a great soundtrack. And the actresses playing the main character and her ex have a charismatic chemistry.

No lie. The first time I ever felt my nether regions tingle was after my dad added this to his collection.
Found out many years later she was like 7 months pregnant during the photo-shoot.

I have only two minor gripes, one is that it doesn't really delve into the reasons for his poor mental health (or why he doesn't appear to be doing anything about it, i.e. getting professional help). Two are those pubes on his face.

I just watched it too. Like adi I wasn't aware of his musical comedy thing and if it had just been that I wouldn't have cared for it much (even though it's very well executed), but the bits about mental health hit like a ****ing truck. In a way, I like that he doesn't get into the origins of his mental health problems, because it's not what matters in this context. A big part of it is about the effect of slowly recovering from a bad state which involved isolation, and then, just when you really feel you've recovered enough to start reaping the benefits, you get shut in again and your brain is like 'oh we're doing this again, I know the drill!' and tries to revert back. I think that's a pretty universal corona issue, at least it's exactly what happened to me (thankfully not nearly as bad as he appears to have been), and getting into what his particular problems are takes away from that universality. I hope he did get help though, I feel genuinely concerned about the guy now

Yeah me too. He seems to have been in a very bad way (the bit where he says he doesn't actually want to kill himself and recommends to others that they don't do it seemed quite unconvincing).
Anyway, it's funny how so many comedians suffer from depression.
