Presumably cause you can't believe in the Joker in general cause the character never touched this. I mean if there's one character trait the the Joker has retained in all his installments whether it be the 60s Adam West show, the 80s movie, the animated series, the comics, or The Dark Knight, it's a confidence, a self-possession, a narcissistic belief in himself that transcends whatever happens to be happening around him. And as great as Joaquin Phoenix was, he never gave me even a glimmer of that madcap poise. Nothing like this.

The speech sucked but the murder was pretty tight

It finally leaked a couple weeks ago. It's like Come and See, but more depraved. It differs from the book, combining parts and characters, and it's not as graphic thankfully as I was dreading seeing parts of the book put to film. I still wouldn't recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to see certain types of violence.

a lot of **** also plain didn't make sense, like how in da fuq would he be able to walk up on Bruce at the gate like that

but then we can assume that up to all the events didn't even happen, yet the film still entertains and gets the point across, so I didn't hate it for that

Yeah but he also supposedly banged the neighbor lady.

I think it's more of an unreliable narrator situation.

It was clearly a pedo fantasy, didn't you hear the Gary Glitter song?

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

So different from what I expected, I thought it was genuinely a great movie. I think I figured it was going to prove over-hyped like most cult classics are, but it was so clever and fun, and I've never experienced such visceral hatred for a disabled character before! 9/10 because no titties and no meat hook gore.

The Batlord 05-23-2020 08:37 PM

I've only seen it once but I did think it was overhyped. Definitely should watch it again though since I never thought Halloween, Alien, or Night of the Living Dead were overhyped. Classic horror movies tend to age well with me so long as they're not 80s slasher schlock.

I'm looking forward to watching the second one, but tonight I'm following the theme of scary-remakes-I-watched-as-a-teen-and-now-I'm-getting-around-to-watching-the-originals and going with The Hills Have Eyes (1977)

With the company, of course, of Joe Bob Briggs.

The Batlord 05-23-2020 08:49 PM

So you watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake as a teen? I actually remember liking that. The guy from Full Metal Jacket was great at least but that's to be expected.

I actually intended to go rewatch TCM right now but it's not on my hard drive so I'm watching The Exorcist for the first time instead.
