i forgot what a tear jerker that movie is

I just saw that like a week or so ago on like TNT or something. It doesn't make me cry, but there are some parts that really tug at my emotions, like when Bubba dies-I was completely devastated.

We own the night.

It was good to me even though I did fall asleep on it during the middle. I'll probably buy it on dvd when it becomes available. I love the opening scene :D

rather disappointed, the story was all over the place. It was American history x, just not as intense or engrossing :-/

I think AMERICAN HISTORY X is a seriously flawed film. If you read up on the back story, it show's what a troubled production this was and what the film COULD have been. I thought THE BELIEVER was stunning and marked RYAN GOSLING as one to watch when this first came out a few years ago. Now everyone is raving about him. I thought this was a subtle film and much more believable.

@Adidasss-what took you so long on this one? A great little movie. have you seen his VISITOR Q-now that is one strange comedy.

American History X at least had a turning point, where it made sense WHY he changed his opinion on black people. He had a black friend and a black teacher still supporting him and educating him. While in THE BELEIVER he just all of a sudden on a bombing run decides he likes being jewish again?

They're was never any legitimate reason WHY he hated jews...all he ever says is "you must kill your enemy" well why are they your enemy, because you had to take some classes in elementary school? big ****ing deal.

While American History X his dad gets shot, bam, makes sense..

When it came down to it they were more or less the same movie, just that American history x had better acting and production. Both movies had awful endings though

See, I personally don't think there was a good enough turning point in AHX to completely change his whole political leanings while in THE BELIEVER it is an analogy of him reaching manhood that forced him to mend his ways and he never was a racist on the scale of Norton's character. I think the low budget helped on THE BELIEVER and it is a well written and directed film.

It's the next on the Miike list. I have a shitload of stuff to watch before though...*sigh*
