I saw The Wrestler earlier today. Ooh.. hang tight I'll do this official like:

THE WRESTLER

It was mediocre. Very dark. Extremely depressing. Almost gets heart warming, and then kinda gets depressing again. There was one really funny scene, but it didn't make up for the 444 extremely depressing ones. Hollywood ending. Pretty wack overall... I have pretty high standards for movies these days though.... On the other hand I did also recently see:

WE OWN THE NIGHT

Eva Mendes is so beautiful that it hurts my heart every time I see her. This movie is also dark but in a much more plot filled way. The box sums it up as such: "Two brothers on opposite sides of the law. Beyond their differences lies loyalty." That's pretty much it. It gets truly intense as the two brothers' worlds collide. On another note, the interaction between Joaquin Phoenix and Eva Mendes is believable and beautiful... right from the very first scene. Watch it.

Eric Bana was excellent in that. The rest of it was a steaming pile of turd.

Speaking of him did you ever see Chopper? That was a pretty interesting movie.

Oh yeah- who hasn't?! to think that that was one of Banas first performances and he was a stand up before that- astonishing.

I didn't think so. Although I do have a major crush on Bana (who's part Croatian btw! <3) so my judgment may have been clouded by his stunning good looks...*swoons* I also liked Hulk...:D

I understand some of the "concerns" but I fail to see how any of it was anti - Semitic. Maybe I'm overlooking a lot, I dont know.

Yeah, I didn't really see where the complaints of anti-semitism were coming from either. The movie was no more or less anti-semitic than christianity in general.

That said, I still thought it was a pretty awful movie. It was basically a two hour exercise in torture with really no sense of context or character. As a result there was nothing about it that engaged me on any level. And the overuse of slow-motion was so absurd that it actually got kind of funny after a while.

Maybe Chopper is bigger over where you are. I had never heard of it until pretty recently and I don't know anyone else who has seen it. It was quite a movie though, his performance especially was the real standout for me and I liked the cinematography quite a bit.

Its not really the most hilarious comedy of the year, incase you were wondering.

It's not bad but its probably mediocre at best.

As a fan of Simon Pegg I was a little disappointed to see him playing this kind of role, the quirky, odd Englishman because he is English so thats the law but I guess he did quite well with it and he was funny.

Quite a predicatble film, as romcoms can tend to be. If it wasnt for Pegg I wouldnt have bothered. Also, there are a few charaters, mainly Gillian Andersons that may as well not be there as I cant think of a single thing she contributed to the film.

Worth it for a laugh or two, probably not for much else.
